How can pro-choice Catholics seriously call themselves practicing Catholics?

The saint didn’t mention clergy as well as laity in this passage, though I’m sure he was well aware.
He must be spinning in his tomb right now. I can’t imagine he foresaw how bad the widespread, open dissidence to the point of heresy would become.
Maran atha.

He did mention clergy, I couldn’t post whole paragraph due to word limit
That We make no delay in this matter is rendered necessary especially by the fact that the partisans of error are to be sought not only among the Church’s open enemies; they lie hid, a thing to be deeply deplored and feared, in her very bosom and heart, and are the more mischievous, the less conspicuously they appear. We allude, Venerable Brethren, to many who belong to the Catholic laity, nay, and this is far more lamentable, to the ranks of the priesthood itself, who, feigning a love for the Church, lacking the firm protection of philosophy and theology, nay more, thoroughly imbued with the poisonous doctrines taught by the enemies of the Church, and lost to all sense of modesty, vaunt themselves as reformers of the Church; and, forming more boldly into line of attack, assail all that is most sacred in the work of Christ, not sparing even the person of the Divine Redeemer, whom, with sacrilegious daring, they reduce to a simple, mere man.

The Pro Abortion crowd (Planned Parenthood execs, NARAL, etc) literally believe that MORE abortions will reduce poverty and reduce pollution.
Pro-choice isn’t pro-abortion.
pro choice in the way the term has been corrupted in our usage of the term, means choosing either life or abortion is perfectly fine & if one chooses the death of their unborn , is just fine & LEGAL in our system. NO CONSEQUENCES legally, for ending the life of the unborn IN THE SECULAR SENSE… except for Catholics. For Catholics it is a criminal act, a grave sin against the moral law . HERE note: in particular #2272 & 2332

Appointing Judges

Securing Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice

Women and Girls

That contradicts Catholic teaching… massively…Not to mention how God sees it

Dt 30: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life , that you and your descendants may live,

The church has always taught that abortion has always been graveful sinful. Explicitly.
Not propaganda, history. Read it. Sinful? Yes. Gravely sinful? No. Not until 1869. Explicitly.

You distort these passages for your own purposes. That is intentional deception.
For instance, here is the whole of sec 42. It is not even addressing the question of when or whether human beings exist. It is speaking to the social character of human beings.
I may be–in YOUR opinion–interpreting these passages wrongly. But I am NOT distorting them–far from it, I’m not paraphrasing, I’m quoting! And I said explicitly in another post that I recognized that the author(s) of this document were not thinking of fertilized eggs when they wrote it–but I suggested that they SHOULD have been thinking of fertilized eggs. My purpose was simply to find some Church document that went into some detail as to what a “human being” was. This was what I came up with. If you can find another Church document that deals with the definition of “human being” then please post it (with a web address).

With abortion, there is no objective evil being prevented
Taking the life of another is not an objective evil?
People that do not hold our religious beliefs don’t think “maybe.” They think it’s not true.
And therein lies the blindness. Setting aside the idea of a soul, since they cannot know if they themselves have a soul, or if that matters. Their thought of what constitutes a human being is a thought without evidence in any fact. If they could prove that at a certain point this thing is not a human, then the pro-choice position would not be correct. However, the burden of proof must be on them. It is a matter of law that the law errs on the side of protecting a child.

You are right though in one difference in my comparison. There are struggles with having a child that do not accompany driving while intoxicated.

Apparently a fertilized egg doesn’t have gender, so care to explain?

It seems to me that pro-choice is pro-abortion.
Well, you’re wrong. They are totally different. Pro-abortion means that I am personally in favor of abortion. I am not. Pro-choice means I think every woman should make her own decision as to the morality of abortion in her own situation. I have no right to deprive women of their absolute right to moral choice. (See the catechism section I posted on freedom of choice.) I am pro-choice.

Well, if the document says that one sign of being human is having gender, a fertilized egg has no gender. Logical conclusion: the fertilized egg cannot be human since it has no gender. QED.

@Erikaspirit16

This is not true.

Read this: https://www.ewtn.com/library/PROLENC/ENCYC043.HTM

As a matter of fact, what you list here is listed as a lie of “pro-choice” Catholics. The lie is credited to Canadian psychiatrist Wendell W. Watters in his 1970 Compulsory Pregnancy: The Truth About Abortion

Proof that the Church has ALWAYS believed that abortion is a grave sin, is the fact that it’s in the Didache.
You shall not kill an unborn child or murder a newborn infant.
The Didache (“The Lord’s Instruction to the Gentiles through the Twelve Apostles”). II, 2, translated by J.A. Kleist, S.J., Ancient Christian Writers , Volume 6. Westminster, 1948, page 16.

It appears you are the one who pulled from propaganda history.

Your argument is listed in the following link

FIGURE 43-1
TYPICAL PRO-ABORTION LIES REGARDING CATHOLIC CHURCH TEACHING ON ABORTION

Catholic theology, which now regards the early fetus as a person, did not always do so. The Church first adopted the belief of Aristotle, St. Jerome, St. Augustine, and St. Thomas Aquinas that ensoulment occurs several weeks after conception. Pope Innocent III, who ruled at the turn of the 13th Century, made that belief part of Church doctrine, allowing abortion until fetal animation. It was not until 1869 that the Church prohibited abortion at any time and for any reason.

And keep reading for the answers to those lies

But pro-choice only refers to abortion does it not? Are there any other evils a person can visit upon another person that should be a matter of choice?

This is scientifically not true.

The sex of a child is determined by the sperm cell. If a Y sperm fertilizes the egg, it will be a male. If a X sperm cell fertilizing the egg, it will be a female.

Now - if you are referring to the pseudoscience of gender fluidity, well the Church doesn’t accept that as science.

God bless
