How can someone who has had an abortion return to the Church?

I have a friend, and yes, it’s really a friend, who has had more than one abortion. She has returned to the Catholic Church. How can this be?
 
Presumably your friend has reconciled herself to God and the Church by seeking forgiveness for her abortions. Rather than speculate on the how, perhaps you should be rejoicing for your friend.
