How can the Devil tempt us if he isn't omniscent and omnipotent?

I don’t know. Maybe something like that? I just don’t see them doing anything too extreme. I guess an archangel or demon could have more power?
At this point it’s a guessing game at the reason or purpose behind it. After all, He was given dominion over this world (within certain limitations of course). So it may very well be that he has a percieved upper hand when dealing with us in our current state.

God may have laid down ground rules for his angels, but you have to remember that some of them rebuked them and renounced god. So they are probably given more leeway. Else, what would be the point of rebelling against god if you’re still bound by the same ground rules?

That just wouldn’t make any sense. But hell, who says it has to make sense anyway. Sometimes you just have to have faith. Heh

God’s ground rules for the angels would probably be built into them. I think the only thing they rebuked was God’s Love. They’re probably still confined by the “ground rules” as we are confined by the laws of physics. The only way to defy them is with God on our side.

I disagree. It’s a choice, just like we have. The ground rules would have to be different, otherwise any angel could rightfully tempt us and just because they still ‘Love’ god could get away with it.

I find this highly improbable.

I think he just meant that a fallen angel still retains its nature after the fall, and cannot go beyond that nature; like humans can’t go beyond their nature, yet we do not lose our natural powers when we rebuke Gods love.

Remeber angels(i think at least some are) are messengers. After the fall, the Devil would still have that ability to give and recieve spirtual messages; he could be using that ability to give us sinful disorderd and negative messages.

The angels had one time to choose either God or…not God. Because they are beings superior to us, they only needed one choice. After that I assume they have the Beautific Vision…or something like it. Those with it cannot sin…go against God. One who loves God doesn’t tempt us to sin.

This would imply that Jesus was not tempted. Could it be that Jesus was tempted and satan did know that he was both God and fully human, and that is why he attack Jesus in his human form?
It also implies that the devil would never do anything he knew to be futile.

Mhmmm, interesting. Any Church quotes? Catechism?
What are these various means?Any Church quotes? Catechism?
Read “An Exorcist Tells His Story” by Father Gabriele Armoth. There is an abundance of scripture quotations and church doctrine, concerning this subject, in Armoth’s book.
