Hello, This is my first post and I just joined to try and find some answers.

In Gen 1: 16 God made the two great lights referencing the sun and moon (I assume). In Isaiah 13:10 it says the moon will not give its light. In Mark 13:24 , Ezekiel 32:7 and other verses similar verbiage is stated.

My problem is that if God made two of something the assumption is that the two items are identical in nature; but the sun and moon are not the same. The sun emits light and the moon just reflects the suns light. If the moon wasn’t meant to be a light source how can the other verses state that it will not give its light.

I have considered the possibility that since these are end time scenario’s it would just mean the reflected light would not be seen when it normally would but I still come back to the creation of two luminaries and can’t reconcile the verses.

Thanks in advance

Its poetic wording. Similar to speaking of a “sunset.” Obviously we know the sun does not literally set, the spot on the earth where we are standing rotates away from the sun yet we still say: “I watched the sunset.”
We also still say “moonlight” and not “light from the sun reflected off the moon.”

Its poetic wording to vividly describe something, its not a scientific statement.
