Hi there,
Recently, there has been accusations of Catholic clergy sexually abusing children. Now, I believe the policy is that clergy are not reported if they confess that they sexually abused children in the sacrament of confession. Now this brings up an issue: why are clergy not reported, especially if clergy are at risk of resinning? Yes, some argue that no one will confess their sins if they are at risk of being retold to someone else, but isn’t it more important to protect the members of our society who cannot protect themselves? As Catholics, are not we people who want to protect and serve other people, especially those who are not capable of doing that themselves? How can we still justify this seal of confession?
