How can we best pray for those in Purgatory?

In my night prayers, I pray “for souls in purgatory, namely, …” and among the names are my grandparents, my grandfather who died over 20 years ago. Although I have no guarantee he’s in Heaven, I’m confident he is. My question, can you recommend other / more appropriate words or prayers which will honor his/their memories?
