Hi guys, im new here. So i just found this forum as of now. Since there are done many questions about different topics in here, I decided to make a question which has made me think alot about it. If a mother ends up in Heaven by recieving the grace of God but her Son does not, and hasn’t accepted God in his life no matter how many times his mother has tried to convince him. Now how can the Mother enjoy heaven by knowing that her son will spend eternity in Hell? I’d appreciate your answer. Thanks.

The Mother can enjoy heaven, because in heaven your will is the same as God’s will, and the people in hell are enemies to God.

My understanding is that it’s like a prison. If a woman’s son murdered someone, the consequence is that he goes to prison. The woman may wish that he weren’t in prison, but she knows that he deserves to be there. So it is with Hell; we’ll know that the unrepentant sinners deserve to be there.

I fully understand the hurt that ensues, believe me. All of my family members are non-believers and it breaks my heart to imagine them suffering in Hell. They have the responsibility to repent and believe the Gospel, though. I can’t make that decision for them.

First: welcome!

Simple! God’s love and mercy are perfect, right? Doesn’t God love them infinitely more than we do? Yes, He does. God’s justice is also perfect - a reflection of the perfect God. Our wills will be perfectly conformed to God’s when we are in His Kingdom. Thus, we will be satisfied - even pleased - at those who chose hell, as they are receiving God’s perfect justice. Keeping in mind that there is no attribute of God or His mercy or justice which will displease us.

Revelation 7:17

17 For the Lamb who is in the center of the throne will shepherd them
and lead them to springs of life-giving water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
God removes all sorrow.

Nothing should be denied the blessed that belongs to the perfection of their beatitude. Now everything is known the more for being compared with its contrary, because when contraries are placed beside one another they become more conspicuous. Wherefore in order that the happiness of the saints may be more delightful to them and that they may render more copious thanks to God for it, they are allowed to see perfectly the sufferings of the damned ( Summa Theoloogiae suppl. III:94:1).

Yes because when you find out somebody you loved on earth was in Hell when you got to Heaven, you wouldn’t be able to love them anymore (at least in the way you did on earth).

To add to po18, after the final public judgment we will know exactly why a certain soul was damned. We will rejoice in God’s justice.

My understanding is that all in Heaven take delight in God’s justice. Those in hell accept God’s justice, even if they hate that justice.

Every second in Heaven is so full of God’s love and presence, it is impossible to feel any sorrow or sadness.

Because our eyes will be open to the justice of it and we will be in the presence of God, where we will ultimately be fulfilled.

Im in the same boat. Pray…

I certainly hope that I did not tread over any sensitivities the OP might have. It also bears mentioning, that living Catholic survivors can make a huge difference before and after the passing of their loved ones. Lighting blessed candles at Church and at home, having masses offered at church, giving alms in their names.

If money [and the suggested offering is about ten dollars] is a problem, one can certainly pray a rosary for those beyond the veil. As Catholic, we have a unique advantage in what we can do for our loved ones. Our Protestant brothers can even take advantage of some of this.
