How can we trust that the Abrahamic God is actually God?

How can we trust that the God that is present in Christian/Abrahamic history is actually God with a capital ‘G’?

Could it be possible that version of God is a super powerful transcendent entity that CLAIMS to be God…but is ultimately not God?

What if the ‘real’ God is completely silent and doesn’t communicate with his creation?..thus…we begin to believe that this Abrahamic version of God IS God, since there seems to be nothing else beyond him.

Perhaps, in the beginning, this unknown God created the universe, including the Abrahamic God…and just kept quiet after that. So the Abrahamic God took advantage of this and tried to claim HE was God, since the ‘actual’ God would remain silent about it and not call him out on it. ?

That sounds somewhat gnostic.
It’s quite simple.
There can’t be two Gods, logically speaking.
God has actually told us He doesn’t lie, and that He is the only God, and there is no other God.

If there’s another “god” who wouldn’t talk with us (as if that is possible), then one has to wonder why. Is this supposed god incapable? Is it not knowing that we are all being deceived? Does it simply not care? Or is this God supposed to be some avatar of the other one so that this other God can speak with us?

Either way it wouldn’t matter.
And God already told us He is the only God.
 
I don’t see a point in believing in speculations, cause lets be honest, how do I not know that Trump is secretly controlling China or something ?
Evidence is needed for those stuff , and if we define God as perfect and infinite than that automatically means there can’t be 2 Gods as that would mean there is something that distinguishes them and that means that there is something that he isnt perfect in.

Don’t you also thinks that might be a weird way of doing things ? I would sooner believe there is no God than that there is one

This is like that is our world a virtual world (matrix type) and we are living a lie ? Sure, if thats the case, but I am going to keep living by my virtual beliefs, virtual goods etc.

That is my opinion of it.
 
I started studying the Hebrew behind the English starting with Genesis. And I got stopped dead in my tracks this morning and this thread opened up.

Gen 1:1 In the beginningH7225 GodH430 createdH1254 the heavenH8064 and the earth.H776

The Hebrew word here is in the Plural form.
H430 אֱלֹהִים ‘ĕlôhı̂ym el-o-heem’ Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense;

It is found 2601 times. 188 times it is not found as God.

5 Judge & Judges
2 mighty
2 great
1 angels
1 exceedingly
1 goddess
1 godly

It really makes the “US” in this verse make sense now. It has always perplexed me.

Genesis 3:22

That was not known until Jesus started his Ministry. So keep it at an Old Testament Level. Let us not refer to something that had not been written yet.
 
Most of all, I believe God wants us to know that he is a loving God. Hence, his revelation in OT and especially in Jesus and the things Jesus did.

The Egyptians were believers in more than one God. They were deceived. Death came upon them and their first born.

Those who are having this debate inwardly just need more God in their lives. Ask God for his grace. But, be warned, the stars don’t come out in the light. However, this is often how God shows us his love; he wants us to depend on his grace to lead us through the darkness. And, I would add that anyone debating this interiorly is already in some darkness.

I recommend, if you are already translating between hebrew and english to look at what the words meant in context and those cultural times. Words can sometimes also have multiple meanings.

For example this is greek but still : Oikumene is considered the word that we know by ecumenism today, and that word means world if translated literally. But the writers dont mean by the world world the actual globe, they mean the currently known, discovered world where people live, and there are other examples where this word means a type of kingdom. I would be careful with those things.
 
These answers seem to come from the pre-supposition that the God mentioned in the Bible is the real God, and not some impostor. While I believe that is the real God, I’m still a skeptic at heart and need an answer from ‘outside’ this line of thought.

I’m not sure if I clarified my question enough.

Let me give you an example:

Noah heard a voice, that claims to be God, to build an ark…How can we know that is actually the real God speaking to Noah and not some counterfeit spiritual being?

_We are not the only religion that has historical stories of people being spoken to by a ‘supreme God’ figures.(ex: Allah, Brahman, etc.). Now obviously Allah and Brahaman would have to be counterfeit…what separates the Abrahamic God from these in regards to being trustworthy?

The link only explains the Us. It does not explain why the same plural word for God is translated as God and not Gods a majority of the time and the peculiar translations that are neither God or Gods.
 
I think they had some understanding of these things. Abraham saw three and worshipped one so…
 
This is why, in my opinion, we should trust in the autonomy and primacy of reason, and not just revelation. So these questions can be answered. According to the judgements of the intellect, there are three in relation to entities/essences: necessary, impossible, and possible. To keep it short-

The existence of the totality of contingent things- Possible

The existence of God- Necessary

The existence of more than one god- Impossible

Ah true, I was pretty sure I read “Gods” somewhere in there.
My apologizes,
i am not a bible scholar so I can’t verify the trutheness or falsness, I only have learnt a bit about the jewish culture to know that translating things isn’t that easy.
