I have a repeated mortal sin which I’ve committed everyday. The thing is, mortal sin separates us from God, right? Repeated unconfessed sins may be an open door to demons.

I can’t confess right now because I’m on vacation and where I am, there’s no church nearby. The problem is, I have a speech to offer tomorrow and I always have this fear that a demon could suddenly posses me and make me do embarrassing stuff on-stage.

With repeated unconfessed mortal sins, how can you still be able to avoid being possessed?

Also, is there a priest whom I can confess to in this forums online? Thanks.

  1. Pray. Mortal sin doesn’t mean God doesn’t hear our prayers, and the last thing a demon would want you to do would be praying.
  2. How far away is the nearest church? I know there’s not one close by, but if its within an hour or so, this seems serious enough to warrant going out of your way to find a church. If there really is no church you can go to without getting back in time for dinner, or for whatever you’re giving the speech at, then stop doing the mortal sin, and book an appointment for reconciliation at your home parish as soon as you get home. Actually, stop doing the mortal sin regardless.
  3. Demonic possession would likely be more subtle than that, especially in this modern era. It would make you sin even more, and make you spurn God’s grace, but demons don’t want the world to know that they’re there, so your head wouldn’t spin 360 or you wouldn’t vomit pea soup or anything you saw in The Exorcist. At least not on stage. If you suspect demonic possession, also make an appointment with your priest ASAP.
  4. Reconciliation has to be in person, not over the phone or the internet, sorry.

First off, you will not get possessed. And second off, if you are afraid of it, it wont happen. If you are saved, you are filled with the holy spirit. It will protect you.

Make an act of perfect contrition with the resolute intention of receiving the sacrament of Confession as soon as you get a genuine chance.

Catholic Encyclopedia: “In the very nature of things the sinner must repent before he can be reconciled with God (Sess. XIV, ch. iv, de Contritione, Fuit quovis tempore, etc.). Therefore he who has fallen into grievous sin must either make an act of perfect contrition or supplement the imperfect contrition by receiving the Sacrament of Penance; otherwise reconciliation with God is impossible. This obligation urges under pain of sin when there is danger of death. In danger of death, therefore, if a priest be not at hand to administer the sacrament, the sinner must make an effort to elicit an act of perfect contrition. The obligation of perfect contrition is also urgent whensoever one has to exercise some act for which a state of grace is necessary and the Sacrament of Penance is not accessible.”

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for
having offended you, and I detest
all my sins, because of Your just
punishments, but most of all because
they offend You, my God, who are
all-good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of
Your grace, to sin no more and to
avoid the near occasion of sin.
Amen.

If you have a mortal sin you have committed everyday, I would venture to say your not remorseful of your mortal sins, but more worried about demon possession. Turning away from God and living in sin distances us from God. Even if your out of town, you need to repent, make an act of confession from the heart and quit that mortal sin your committing everyday. Going to confession and not feeling remorse is of no use, why go.

If everybody who committed serious sin became demoncally possessed, the world would be full of human heads spinning around on their bodies!

While almost everybody falls into serious sin at some point in their life; demonic possession is very rare. It, after all, forces people to believe in demons, something the demons themselves normally do not want.

Methinks your motivations need re-centering. You are worried that demons may cause embarassment to you by controlling your body; when in fact; they are already influencing your actions (via temptation) in such a way as to block your way to our LORD. That is the issue; social embarrasssment is a minor concern.

Get your prayer life restarted and cease and desist from your habitual sin. Confess as soon as possible. I’d say that possession should then be the least of your concerns.

God Bless, ICXC NIKA

Try not to fear that.

What you fear, you empower. What you dwell on, you make room for in your mind.
Dwell on God. Dwell on Positive things, think about the gifts he has given you. Thank him for anything good in your life. Thank him for any adversity in your life. Adversity gives you another chance to learn and grow in him. Be strong and pass another test.

In my own prayers I have prayed that the moment of temptation be slowed down for me. That I will recognise that I’m at a point where I’m forced to make a decision. These decisions will either lead me away from God or closer to God if I make the right choice. It worked. I’m often finding myself with my mind coming to realise that I’ve paused and it’s decision time. This has made it easier to make the right choice because before in some circumstances it was an automatic response. I was sinning out of habit without even thinking about it.

I pray that you will have these moments of clarity too. This will help you in every aspect of your life.

Remember God is in the little things too. Have faith that you are indeed Gods child. Jesus is with you all the time and no demon can withstand him. The less you sin, the closer you let Jesus get to you.

If we pray to God to protect us from demonic possession,

here is one thing we can know for sure God will do for us.

If we pray for a plasma TV, or a winning lottery ticket God may say no,
but if we pray for protection from demonic possession,

would God say no? Not a chance!

“Though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil for Thou art with me
Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

The greatest sin - blasphemy of the Holy Spirit - is believing that Jesus cannot and/or will not heal us. I believe that we could be literally murdering someone, but if we are crossing ourselves, or praying while we do it, we can avoid possession.

Not to say that we are ensuring forgiveness, just that we are keeping ourselves in a place where we still *could *if we wanted to.

Well…I suppose these things are a part of human experience because, the interpetation is not un-common, so…

thats the first bit of knowledge that must be fully understood here, knowledge in behavior is very very important…YOUR NOT ALONE in this kind of thing…quotes concerning imaginative devils and all that stuff

Second I once read in a very good and pious book that an individual needs to be decent before being very spiritual, now this does not mean that the good spiritual person who errs is not decent, to err is to be human…The reasoning though is telling in the nature of subject decency. Serious wrongs are un-natural deeds- thoughts ect ect. It is natural to have good will in mind for self and society. The wrong is in supposing ill-will on others in however the ill fated suspect wrong is in notice…so if I imagine robbing a bank and give serious consideration…the wrong is in the ill-will for fair progress for society in the fair representation of the effect in taking money with no tangible expression of a viable means for exchange…money definition…a means of exchange,…so no matter what the err is …one is expecting or taking something which does not belong to self…in root mischief…theft…theft is the root of all social degeneration…stealing can come in many forms including robbing another in their pursuit of true joy in life, whether imagined or otherwise…neighbor, work associate ect ect

So…you are stealing something if you are correct in self review. Taking what does not belong and as well removing what does belong to humanity in the full volume of your worthy contribution which is expected. re a good decent or whatever.

Knowledge is your best bet…I highly recommend the following for OP and the last couple of quotes would need more info…looks like prof assistance may be advisable but will say…try not to be so paranoid and get busy with outdoor fresh air , excersize, and projects which are constructive both long term and short…looking forward to accomplishing constructive things is good because its our job as people…we are programmed. for contribution…not self absorbed fantastic non thought ideas.

back to the OP…it may be that you have way too much time on your hands and need some of above for serious consideration…work ect…outdoor things, goals ect.
If you want to think and act normal…you gotta live normal throughout the day.

as far as praying and so forth goes…reading through your wording…I would say that you need to have more confidence in the value of very good focused attention to the words expressed in the formal prayers. Act of contrition before nodding off every single night no matter what…an accent away from what you believe is your huge sin is important…emphasis and fear will only cause more attention to the problem…don’t let the problem what ever it is suffocate your situation…

i can’t stress enough the value of the hail mary where…the words are said very very slowly with good honor and heartfelt meaning…try to comprehend every single word…take your time and relax with it…better a couple that take a little quality time then many missing a few ideas in the words being said…you gotta get onto that if this is not in play…which i have no idea…i’m just tossing out opinion cause your asking…or allow full confidence in this area.

lastly…this is only opinion and have a great day…its always refreshing to see witness in someone trying to do their best…thats more then half the battle…im inna rush here

I think one of the first things involved in avoiding demonic possession is your parent’s and God parent’s holiness. The husband sanctifies the wife, and the wife sanctifies the husband or else the children would be “unclean”.

There is no way to avoid possession when involved in mortal sin.
Jesus remarked, the man from whom a demon has gone out and wandered in the desert and finding no place to “rest”, returns to the man only to find the house cleaned and set in order. Upon seeing this he goes out and finds 7 demons worse than himself and fills that man, and his last state is worse than the first.

Without goodness inside, emptiness will be filled with darkness.

Doing embarrassing stuff on stage is the least of your real problems if you have mortal sin. I think you unlikely to do anything at the behest of a demon unless it aligns with the habits you form in mortal sin; the demons aren’t interested in giving God a contrast with which you might see him.

The best you can do is make an act of perfect contrition, and deal with the consequences that you are faced with. Also, ask your god parents to pray for you, and remember that you have a guardian angel who speaks with God on your behalf.

The church, as far as I know, does not condemn acts that are done by someone possessed with the same severity as those done willingly. You are not responsible for what you can not control, but only what you did (and only if you really did) to loose control. This includes trying to draw attention to yourself by apophatic questions.

In psychology, there is a reference to unwanted thoughts called “ants” (automatic negative thoughts.). Regardless of whether one views these as manifestations of demons, or whether one regards these as biological deficiencies is secondary to the remedy that both require – logical discipline: Don’t believe everything which comes into your head… Normal people reject bad thoughts which none the less, enter their mind.
This is called a virtue (AKA strength.); and I think you might meditate on Prudence, and Fortitude.

Priests do not have permission to accept confession through online settings; therefore beware of anyone telling you otherwise, as they may not be a priest. Since the forgiveness of sins is imparted by a specific permission and the laying on of hands, illicit use is not sure to have any effect at all.

If you do begin praying to your guardian angel, and then begin feeling worse – don’t be surprised. A wound has to be exposed, sometimes painfully, in order for true healing to begin. The only sin which is unforgivable, is the sin one never stops committing. That is the essence of the sin against the Holy Spirit.

You’re in my prayers, regardless of what motivated you to write the post.
Even the ultimate divine mercy includes consequences to all of us for any sin, and even mortal sin, of our church’s members. By communion, some of us are closer and others are farther away from you; Think not only of yourself but of those you love whom must bear the burden of your difficulties, and pray for us to have the virtue to help you appropriately.

Hi there. I don’t mean to hijack this thread but I have no clue on how to make a thread.

I just have a question but before I ask, I would like to share my story so that you have an insight on why I am asking.

Hi there everyone. I’m new here and have been looking for real answers.

Does anyone have any real experience with posses people? I need some answers.

Please only if you have real experience.

I have a friend that was posses last year 2011. He has been a normal guy all his life, nothing out of the ordinary. then last year for some odd reason he was acting weird saying he hears voices when he sleeps.

We all thought he was just dreaming or just scaring him self after watching scary movies. Then it got worst. he started to stay up 24hrs a day and never sleep. We thought he was on drugs, which he wasn’t.

One night we all came over to hangout, and his baby cousin I believe at the time is 6 or 7 years old was in his room playing. she got scared and came downstairs and told her mom theirs a girl in the closet we went to check it out but there was nothing there. hmmmm… six sense?

then it got more weird. he started to go into the bathroom alot and just turn on the shower and stand there.

Then it got scary, he started acting like a girl and speaking and posing like a girl.

we took him to the doctor and they said he was mental and needed to take medicine (Doctors always point towards some kind of scientific method) we gave him meds but nothing worked. we even left him at the mental hospital (not sure if that was the correct term) anyways after a month or so we pulled him out of there because it wasnt helping him.

we took him home. he would one second be normal and talked to us like a regular person. the next minute he would totally change and become this female person, speaking and acting like a female. even gave us a female name.

he would do random weird things like pee in cups, eat insects, and at one point tried to cut him self with a knife. When he was out of “trance” he would act all normal and even cried to us asking for help. he told us he was in pain and didnt want to live anymore. He kept saying everything seems like a dream.

His family would always take turns watching him through out the night because he doesn’t sleep and was up 24hrs a day. At one point he tried to fight all of us and knocked his brother down with a blow to the jaw.

We all grabbed him and ducked taped him to a chair. He then started TALKING IN WEIRD LANGUAGES ALMOST AS IF THERE WERE 2-3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE TALKING AT ONCE!!! scared the **** out of all of us!

western medicine didn’t help and doctors are stupid! they dont believe in possessed or super natural, but you have to admit there are tons of crazy stuff out there that can not be explained.

we had no choice but to find any means necessary to help him. We started to look into MONKS that do exorcism or had knowledge of it. After 2 different monks came they both said they were “to weak” for the spirit and couldn’t help him. We were sad. Then one of our family friend recommended and old MONK from Sacramento CA I think he was 80 years old. Old guy.

He came and locked him self in the room with our friend and told us that this has to be done alone away from family for it to work.

after a few weeks, our friend became normal again!!! He was not mental and doctors couldnt help him!

in conclusion we now believe he was posses by an evil spirit!

TODAY 4-30-2012

His sister told me she woke up from a bad dream.

She said she was very scared.

she had a dream that a spirit of a woman “looks like a witch, very dark black hair” came to her younger sister saying

“I couldn’t get your brother, but I will kill you all one by one by possessing your bodies”

she told me that it said “PURE EVIL”

What should we think of this dream??? is this just a dream or is a spirit trying to communicate to us through a dream??

It has been one year now since this happened. We do not want a repeat of this!

please if you have any idea, let us know.

maybe its nothing and it was just a dream but we dont want to take it to lightly because we know exactly how evil this spirit is and are scared that it may come back and harm someone else in the family.

thanks you for reading.
