How can you have the Real Presence without Transubstantiation?

My understanding (perhaps someone more learned can correct me if I’m wrong) was that “bread and wine” were simply the words used to name the sacrament— a word such as “Eucharist” had not yet come into use.

As for why the Eucharist can’t be both bread and wine AND the Body and Blood—Jesus didn’t say, “This is also my body” and, “This is also my blood”.
I dont believe this is what the RCC teaches. :eek: God Bless

What isn’t what the “RCC” teaches? Consubstantiation? Yes, I know that. Why the appalled face? And since the entire Catholic Church believes in transubstantiation, would you please use “CC” instead of the needlessly incomplete “RCC”? I’m sure our wonderful Eastern Catholics would appreciate not being excluded.
