My prayers feel like a chore if I am honest and like I am just “saying words to the sky” without any spiritual sense of Jesus or any peace etc:confused:

a lady once said me me as she was looking at the handwork on my market stall, " You pray with your hands’"

Vocal prayer is only one form of prayer. Think about it?

And do not seek a spiritual sense. He will give it when He chooses,

The Lord hears every word you think or say. Good feelings come and go. Be assured that He hears you and go on praying. When He decides He will console you with a good feeling of His Presence.

Maybe consider if you would prefer to use a different sort of prayer. Try some different things and see what works for you.

Hi Elena - prayer, essentially, is communication with God. It doesn’t have to be reciting prayers that you’ve memorized - it can be simply talking to him (out loud or in your thoughts) and sharing your feelings, hopes, dreams, struggles … and then being silent to listen.

You may or may not “sense” His presence, but I think trusting that He IS present and hears you is both an act of faith, and can build your faith even more.

I simply recommend trying different ways of praying - do you love being outdoors? Then walk and pray. Do you love the stillness of a chapel? Then go there. Do you like to talk out-loud? On your knees? Sitting in a cozy chair with coffee like you’re sitting with your best friend? ALL of those are valid and if it helps you, go with it!

Remember that at the core, it’s about relationship with Him. However you create a relationship with other people, is a good way to build one with God too.

That is what I’ve learned 🙂

P.S. Also, it’s not wrong to pray that He helps you learn how to love Him more and how to love spending time with Him in prayer!

When we first start to learn to do something, it is hard. We don’t like to do it.

After we do it a lot and start getting good at it, we start liking it more and even look forward to it.

Keep working at this learning process 🙂
