How can you tell if you’re truly sorry for your sins (doesn’t matter if it’s imperfect or perfect)?
I saw this one website where it said being truly sorry for your sins doesn’t mean sadness or self hatred. Doesn’t being sorry mean you’re sad you committed it and are angry with yourself for committing. Like when I one time committed a mortal sin and right after I felt terrible for doing it and was angry with myself for even doing it and sad that I did it. I haven’t done it since, so how do you really tell??

Hard to say…different theologians say different things…to me, having a firm purpose of amendment…resolving to sin no more and have a hatred for sin shows true sorrow…now it could still be perfect or imperfect contrition…only you and God know that

I guess that helps. I do hate the sin I did and will never do it again. However there have been other mortal sins that I’m pretty sure I feel the same way. I mean I’ve done better with my faith and don’t want to commit a mortal sin at all (mainly imperfectly) and have confessed all my mortal sins and I confessed them I guess for imperfect reasons, I guess. I’ve never done any of them again.
