I have long thought the Song of Solomon was questionable in its content, and inappropriate as Scripture, although I accept that it is in the Canon. I want to recall reading that there was much debate in the early church as to canonizing it. Was this a close thing, and why was it included after all, given that it doesn’t even mention God and is really a carnal poem? (I think that attempts to cast it as a metaphor for divine love are just modernist spin.)
