This statement by Aquinas is interesting

" If there had not been in the soul of Christ some other knowledge besides his divine knowledge, it would not have known anything. Divine Knowledge cannot be an act of the human soul oF Christ it belongs to another nature"

Through his own experience and through the help of the Father and the Holy Spirit.

rcjones;7420422:
Though he was rightly God, he suppressed the attributes of God in order to be a man. Why? In order to be tempted in every way as we are. If he had supernatural knowledge of who he was, he was not tempted like us. All his temptation was a facade.
I don’t understand how you say that He had no supernatural knowledge of who He was. He was coming straight from the baptism in the Jordan, where He was publicly declared by God to be the Son of God.
By ‘supernatural’ I am restating the same topic as the previous sentence. He did not use omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, etc. He suppressed the attributes of deity that he possessed.

It think this is very relevant. It means that He held both the natures separately, distinctly and without any overlap. All that His human mind knew other than could be learned through experience/instruction was specifically infused by/revealed to him by the Father and the Holy Spirit, as per the needs of His mission. He would not have unilaterally ‘picked it up’ from the inherent knowledge residing in His divine nature. He would have respected the distinction between His two natures.

So also, He would have performed His miracles using power specially infused for the limited purpose from on high. That’s why we usually see Him looking heavenward before the performance of His miracles.

I am wondering, how did Jesus gain his knowledge?

His own parents, Joseph and Mary, were surprised at having a holy son.
His teachers, who I assume taught other students, were surprised at his knowledge. But he was the only one to become the Christ.
And I don’t recall reading that his knowledge was a type of genetic memory or taught to him by angels, Malachim, etc.

So how did he know he could walk on water, cure blindness, establish a church, etc.?

Are there any extra-Biblical books that discuss this topic?
He is God, therefore, he knew from conception, because Jesus is God.

I don’t think the original Aquinas would agree with you.
An embryo in the womb would not have the capacity to hold any belief either through understanding or through faith. Self-knowledge of divinity belongs to His divine nature exclusively, and did not overflow into His human nature, It would have to be revealed to His human intellect (when He was old enough to hold faith), that He is God, and He would have to accept that revelation in faith, because even then He would know what it actually means to BE GOD, without opportunity to exercise of the faculties of omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence. These, He voluntarily gave up when He “emptied Himself”, remember?

Yes, this is how i understand his position.
