I just completed the first mystery of the Luminous mysteries and a thought struck me so hard I decided to pause the Rosary and post this. How did John the Baptist baptize people? If he did it “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” how did he know? If he didn’t, how did he baptize people? This is rather puzzling to me. :hmmm:

I do not know what, if any, words were used, but John would not have used the Trinitarian formula as the Trinity was not yet revealed. It was Jesus who taught people to use the Trinitarian formula.

There are a lot of articles about Jewish baptism on line, and they don’t all agree, I discovered, so I did not post any links. However, look the subject up; and you will have some interesting reading, but I’m not sure your question will be answered.

John did not baptise in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
His baptism was one of repentance. His baptism did not forgive sins.

Michael rood has a teaching on this which is called the micikav (opps spelling)baptism. It reveals a lot of knowledge

Stay away from anything to do with Michael Rood. His teachings are nonsense and anti-Catholic.
