How did the Baptist Faith originate?

Please, can someone give me references to be used to refute the Baptist claim that they originated from the John the Baptist.
I think there is a book out there that addresses this topic…can’t remember the title.

No respected historian takes such claims seriously. Below are three websites which describe the beginnings of the Baptist churches. Only the last one is from a Catholic source.
