How did the Eastern and Western split happen?

Hi, I am a convert to the Catholic faith and I am in a philosphy group and we were discussing the split of the Eastern and Western churches. And do be honest I don’t know anything about it or to be honest which my church is? Can someone give me trustworthy place to find out more or tell me about it. Thank you!
