How did Vatican II discard head coverings?

A friend came to me today and said she is compelled to wear head covering in church because it says we should in the bible.(I believe she said in Corinithians). She said, how could Vatican II discard of this practice if it is in the bible. I know some of my friends that attend the Latin Mass and she wears the head covering. Can you clear this up for me.
