How did we all come from Adam and Eve?

Adam and Eve where the first humans made by Gud, therefore we are all descendants of them. Did they have both male and female children, brothers and sisters that created the next generation? If so then how did these children avoid the genetic problems that are the result of having children with your siblings and cousins?
