OK can we QUIT with the dual thread here?! I’m tryin’ to read the names!!! LOL

And I am both originally from Chicago AND a Cubs fan, so KNOCK IT OFF;)

  1. BC perfected the Hail Mary not Bama.
I am not a Bama fan, but they never needed last second once in a lifetime plays. Pull the record of when Auburn played BC in the 1980s, too.
  1. You don’t have overpaid prima-donnas because you dont have money to make them overpaid.
Or do we have more sense than to do so?
  1. We never blamed a curse that was sensationalistic media personalities trying to cash in.
I will accept that statement as you are my resident expert on Beantown. But, would Billy Buckner agree?
  1. In that century we won 7 World Series.
All before the US became even 48 states and the automobile, plane, etc.
  1. If the Negro Leagues where the premier baseball league it would have been the one to still be here, not MLB. 😉
Actually, the intergration of Baseball, which was over 20 years after football, ended the need to Negro Leagues. Just look up the Kansas City Monarchs and Birmingham Black Barons. They stayed sold out and it was a lot of non-black fans!

I wish we had some Cubbies to kick around. I would hate it if they won one. It would take away from the mystique. I do feel a little bad every time they are leading in September to have their hearts torn out and stomped on the ground.

For the record, I am a National League fan: if you play, you should bat.
To quote ESPN “Chicks dig the long ball.”

I love the DH rule and the American League.

No you don’t!! Be honest now.

First name Jon, in NC.

BTW, I’m a Phillies’ fan where loosing is bi-millennial. 😃
Yea, they stink.😛

Aren’t they officially the losingest team in any sport?

You poor dear. I love the city of Chicago. But being a Cubs fan would explain your prayer life 😉

Where did your name come from?

Either way if the Negro league was the stronger of the two leagues MLB would disappeared.

Bill Buckner would probably deck you if you brought up the ball through the leg thing. Either way he can’t believe in the curse now if he ever did.

Telling me Alabama teams never needed a last minute win over a number 1 ranked opponent? How boring.

We should take this to another thread or PM me.

Say what?

Actually, I regretted my choice of name the day after I selected it. I’ve used it in other types of venues and stuck with it here as a sort of habit.

I think the name projects a lack of humility, which works on other types of forums, but I suspect it undercuts my credibility here. I’ve sent an email to the forum to try to change my name. I didn’t get a response.
It didn’t hit me that way. I thought you were a Magic (card game) player.

Don’t have to. We’ll overtake your world series record soon enough. For Yankees fans the next few years will seem like the late 80’s. I pity them.:console:
Do any of you remember when Rizzuto (that can’t be right) and White used to announce the Yankee games? That was a 2-fer – a baseball game and comedy duo. Miss those days.

Wanner is a nickname from high school. A friend started calling me that one day, and when I asked why, she simply said, “Jo-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanna.” Hence, Wanner. 🙂 And 47 is my favorite number.

Mine is one I have used since I first started on the internet way back when. I had just moved here to Minnesota and I had a young toddler and that winter was brutal. The governor had closed schools state wide because the wind chill was something like 70 below. (that’s in Farenheit folks!)

So I’m thinking, “How does a Mom deal with this frozen tundra stuff”? LOL

For some reason, people think I live in Alaska. Guess I should have brushed up on my geography before signing on. 😉

in Christ

Many years ago I was playing basketball with some friends. We all came up with nicknames for each other. Someone called me MagicKirk (a take-off on Magic Johnson) and I took a liking to it.

My user name comes from an 18th-century colonial diamond mining town in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. I visited Diamantina almost five years ago and loved it. It is beautiful, rather isolated – full of Baroque churches.

I’ve been using this name for a little over 12 years now. There are three parts. My name is Gary; that is the ‘g.’ I love the name Bob; that is the ‘bob.’ I aso am a pretty skinny guy (I rand XC for my university if that is any indication); so I make fun of myself with ‘buff.’ That turns into buffgbob and I havn’t used anything else since. I am a man of tradition. ;D

Currently doing a documentary film and many other
projects as well.
What is the subject of your doc? Short or feature?

(ha, nevermind, i continued reading on through)

where are your films screened?
