How did you first learn about the birds and the bees?

I think my parents and friends. And just being around in general and picking things up, I’m very good at absorbing.

Hello

From the biology teacher at school and a video shown then.

God Bless
Saint Andrew.

From my friends and boy oh boy!, what a load of misinformation was exchanged!
My parents were raised in the 1920’s - 1930’s and people did not discuss “birds & bees” type things with each other or anyone else.

I learned about it from reading my older (12 yrs) brother’s high school Biology text book. I was the youngest of six, and my mom really let the ball drop here. She never told me ANYTHING, and told my some false info when I asked.

I don’t know if she expected my older sisters to fill me in, but they did not. When I began my cycles at age 12, she rather snottily said to me “oh, I’m surprised it took you so long, your sister started at 9 1/2” I was so hurt and angry that she had reason to expect I would need the info much earlier, but didn’t care to inform me.

But that did let me know not to expect much from her in that area. I read books, talked to friends, and experimented. That is one of the things I truly have never forgiven my mother for. I feel that she made a huge issue out of sexuality, and chastity, but completely left me on my own in an area that it was her duty to educate me.

I was one of seven, so I had some idea what was going on. Strictly speaking though, in the eighth grade we had a priest come every Friday and teach us. How 'bout that??
~ Kathy ~

I figured it out bit by bit from friends and tv but seeing my rabbits mate gave me a clue. By the time My parents wanted to have the talk I told them to save it.

I learned from pretty much all of the above. a bit from all sources.

Out on the street like every other kid of my generation
(They didn’t teach that in the schools back then)

It was pretty accurate, clinical info.
and not a moment too soon. I was trying to figure things out on my own and I had come up with the wackiest explanations.

Bio teachers, Grade 8 Phys. Ed. health unit were my main sources. Thankfully I don’t remember any questionable things until a couple of presentations in Grade 9 and Grade 11 where they went on and on about “sexual health” (O.o they even brought some plastic models…) and blah blah blah with their contraceptive mindset…

But! My sisters and I managed to escape “The Talk”! :rotfl:

I learned at an overniter at some neighborhood kids’ house. When I asked mother about, she dismissed it completely, indicating that the neighbor kids didn’t know what they were talking about. My girlfriend told me about menstruation, THANKFULLY!!!:yup:

The biology/health teacher in school
In the 7th grade we were given a handbook called “Growing Up and Liking It”…I was still clueless until a grown up showed me some awful pictures (13)…I got sick to my stomach …he thought it was funny… I told my mother and she lambasted him…
What an awful thing to do to a child!!! I suppose I should thank my lucky stars that that’s all he did…:yup:
Actually, this is going to sound dumb…but I learned from my husband… (after we were married)
We had a beautiful life together…today would have been our 41St Wedding Anniversary…
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, And let your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace Amen.

I learned from reading Judy Blume books…

Not exactally the best refrence.

Hi guys!

My parents instructed me on the act itself from the age of three. I was also taught the signs and symptoms of various venereal diseases and expected to be able to identify them from photographs.

Not exactly an easy thing to post…

Once upon a time there was a boy and girl, both aged 5 or 6. They were playing together outside when an older neighbor approached and tricked them both into following him to a secluded spot. They both learned a lot that day, at least about the physical act.

Two or three years later, one of them found an empty condom box, and reading the instructions helped to pieced together the reproductive bit of the puzzle.

I guess that classifies as “other”.
