Through a very long series of unfortunate events, I had the misfortune of going over to my friend’s apartment for 6 or 7 out of the past 8 days (excluding today) to help her with her computer. She just got hooked up to the Internet on 11/5/08 and I told her, DO NOT go online until you get an anti-virus program. I bought one for her and installed it, but found a different, cheaper one and took the first one back to install this new one. This new one (Trend Micro, if I may. I highly reccomend it, cheap at WalMart and well worth the price if one buys it elsewhere), did exactly what it was supposed to do and caught that my friend had an illegal version of Windows (she bought the computer second hand for $100). So, my mom and I bought her, as a gift, a legal version of Windows XP. It turns out the illegal version was newer, so, by the grace of God and the intercession of His Mother, (thanks be to GOD!!!) I was able to return the XP and exchange it for Vista. It took 4h45m to install Vista on her computer, and another 6h30m to install Office 2003, her connection to the Internet, and the anti-virus protection.

I mentioned, since I was the one who was installing it all, how funny it would be if I password protected both in Windows and the anti-virus program, the adult sites. She said that wouldn’t be funny and that Jesus Christ is perfect, she is a sinner, and Jesus Christ died for her sins. Nobody is perfect, implying that this is okay because this is why Jesus died.

She said nobody is perfect. I countered with, “Jesus said, ‘Be perfect as your Father is perfect.’” “But nobody is perfect.” “Jesus said, ‘Be perfect as your Father is perfect.’” “But nobody can be perfect as only Jesus is perfect.” “Was Jesus being sarcastic?”

It ended there, because she had her neice to correct and I didn’t want to get into it, but, how very different is that from the Apostolic Churches, she not only thinks it is okay to sin, but, basically, she’s been given carte blanche TO sin, and she doesn’t need to try to be perfect, and she has been taught that this is an impossibility. (She doesn’t know her Bible that well, anyway.) How very sad this is, truly, that this is what was her counter-argument. She knows she is sinning when she does view porn, but, she really thinks that, Jesus will forgive her, though she is presumptuous, and for all I know, unrepentant.

Welcome to my world!

Not all Protestants believe in unconditional salvation, but the churches I go to do. Not to believe in unconditional salvation, is to doubt the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice.

We’re supposed to confess our sins to God; and if they’re bothering our conscience, most of us do. We can ‘experience the consequences of our sins’, kind of like the popular understanding of karma. However, we are frequently reminded that God does not punish us for our sins. Sometimes He “allows bad things to happen to show us the error of our ways.”

Little is ever said about making amends. The new twist is, “don’t apologize; ask for forgiveness.” In the real world this means that now Christians even skate out of admitting they were wrong or that they regret the effect it had on another person; they just throw it back on the victim, in effect, " you get over it!" Not always, of course. Asking for forgiveness can be done sincerely.

I’ll admit, the concept of God’s unconditional forgiveness is an incredibly comforting belief. Right now I’m trying to check for holes.

I believe that when Christ forgave sin He usually did it with the CONDITIONAL admonition," Go and sin no more."Forgiveness is NOT carte blanche to continue to sin.Foregiveness is NOT a “get out of jail free card”.WE must also participate in our redemption.👍
