I was wondering, how do you all think the angels in Heaven perceive human beings?

We know that God, Jesus, Mary and the saints love us and wish for our souls to be in heaven. I assume the angels do as well, but they seem somewhat mysterious.

My general perception of angels is that they are kind and good, but somewhat removed and distant from humanity (with the exception of guardian angels I suppose.)

The archangels such as Michael, Raphael and Gabriel seem very grand and imposing, but somewhat… unapprochable and "of a different realm.’ 😊

Do they… care about humanity? Or perhaps do they just feel neutral about us and help us because God commands it?

I only ask because unlike God (who created humans) and the saints (who were human themselves) angels are a seperate group of beings God made, and because of that… i don’t know… don’t really relate to humanity or have much in common with us?

Thoughts?

I would say they would definitely care about us. Any creation that carries the image of God would hold the most reverence for them. We are also “to judge angels”, so while we are in this exile, those men that are properly disposed and have the highest dignity(things are more noble than others) in God’s eyes, are respected greatly. Their view of us is shared with God’s.

I would guess that even in purgatory they escort the saints, the elect, and the Blessed Mother on their visits to us.

They are servant’s of God, but not in a bad way, they feel joy when they carry out the commands of their Creator. Lucifer decided not too, therefore we know the rest. I heard it said that Angels don’t cry like humans & wish to feel this emotion, anyway if we get to Heaven, we shall be above the Angels.

^ Is that so?

I myself would prefer not to be above them, and don’t see why I would be.

But if the Lord wishes, the Lord wishes 😉

The angels, especially your guardian angel, are close to you. They intercede and mediate grace from God. They are intensely interested in helping us and love us because they are filled with love. They defend us from the evil spirits and pour out great graces on those who invoke them.

Have you ever heard of the St. Michael Chaplet? It’s a great way to honor the 9 choirs of angels and seek their special prayers and protection.

We often invoke the Saints of God but not nearly enough do we invoke the Angels of God. It is like having super humans ready to help you at any time yet always neglecting to ask for their advice/assistance. Our guardian angel, in particular, has immense love for us because he is given special charge of a particular someone.

It is wise to stay close to the angels and invite their influence over our lives.

Humanity’s higher than angels because we’re allowed to feel and live through pain. Angels in heaven? Not so much. That makes them shallower than humanity. No way around it. Or something.

I totally agree with your post. They are here to help us.

I don’t believe they are “shallower”. Because angels do not feel emotions they are more objective and do not go back and forth with “feelings”. 🙂

Here is a site that has a lot about the holy angels. They care a lot about us because they love the Lord and carry out His Will…which is our salvation. They are in awe of the Incarnation!

Thanks for sharing this site with us, Dorothy. It has some wonderful information in it! 🙂
You’re welcome. I got a lot out of that site, and realize much more how the angels help us on the way of salvation. The Lord created them and he uses them for our good. 🙂

Hebrews 1:14
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

If humans are ‘above’ the angels, why would we be given the short end of the stick in so many ways, like intelligence, abilities, etc?

Where did that come from? God has emotions. Why wouldn’t angels?

We are not better than angels, but different. God has desired to share His divine life with us, but not with angels. I don’t know why and I don’t think they understand either. That’s why they are in awe.

God doesn’t have emotions, He has attributes. Emotions is what we humans have.

It doesn’t mean they are cold. Love is in the will and they have a lot of love!

Some of God’s attributes are: all-loving, all powerful,…I need to look up the rest.

God is infinitely good.

The word “angel” means “messenger”. Not all of these beings are messengers. The cherubim are the highest and most intelligent. They remain at the thrown of God to give Him worship. When Isaiah saw the thrown of God, he saw the Cherubim and described them for us.

Michael is the head of the waring class of angels. They are God’s army and are responsible for the protection of Israel. These are not called angels, but rather the “Host” of heaven. Their powerful presence has been seen at pentacostal worship services .

Angels are intelligent, non-corporal being with free will.
They do not receive Sacraments such as Eucharist because they (the majority…save for Lucifer and those who followed him) did not fall from grace.

Angels are certainly in heaven. They accompany us there. They walk beside of us in each moment of our lives, from our conception. They pray for us constantly. Prayers asking for their protection are very effective. What people often perceive as “good luck” is actually our guardian angel working hard on our behalf for good.

Angel, the word, is from the word “agelos” which means messenger.
It refers to what they do; their job in creation.
They are not reassigned to people once we die, nor do deceased persons turn into angels upon entry into heaven. Angels and Humans are two distinct species. If you read Dorothy’s link you can find out more fascinating facts.
