This is a fair statement. Christians do not hate the people who are Catholic in belief. How can we hate those for whom God loved enough to die for? We do have a major problem with Catholic doctrine. Catholicism is a works oriented religion where people try to make themselves acceptable to God for heaven through their good works and works of righteousness. This is not what the Bible teaches as the way to heaven. Heaven or eternal life is achieved only through faith alone in Christ alone, John 3:15-18; Eph 2:1-10; Titus 3:5…
For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink* Matthew 25:35

The Catholic Church has a list of Corporal Works of Mercy. Are you saying that helping the poor is wrong? Are you saying that comforting the dying is wrong? Visiting the sick?

I don’t think ol’ DL is saying that these are wrong. I think that what he is trying to say is that these thing have no bearing on one’s salvation.

If God believed that everyone would believe, He wouldn’t have warned us about falling away, would he?

Doesn’t the Bible talk about what to do about the people who refuse get with the program?
Hi kalt,
There is the “Law’ and the “Spirit of the Law”. What program are we to get with? I have a brain and something has to make sense to me before I believe it. Have you ever had a child molested and no one listen or care, not even the police, because it’s her word against the molester? Once again a hand does not say to a foot,” I don’t need you!"

Jesus’ program, of course.

The hand certainly does say to the foot, “I don’t need you.” if the foot is detrimental to the body.

The story you tell is sad, but I’m unsure why you’ve included it. I haven’t read the whole thread, and I think there’s something I’m missed.

Hi kalt, my point is this. Only Jesus knows a persons heart.Don’t judge too harshly Catholics that have left the Church until you walk a mile in their shoes. Remember they are still part of the Body.As far as non Catholics or other Christians, God will honor their faith, that is a Catholic teaching. There is the “Law” and the “Spirit of the Law”. Moses gave us the Law. Jesus gave the spirit of the Law, “.Love one another as I loved you.” When posting a person can get their point across, with humbleness ,kindness, and in love. I know they did to me and it worked. I now admit in the Chair of Peter and the Catholic Church is the original Church. Just keep in mind all have sinned and fell short to the Glory of God.Try not to judge others too harshly. You catch a lot more flies with honey than you do vinegar.😉
Peace be with you

Well, I’m not looking to convert anyone, and I haven’t said a thing about those who’ve fallen away from the Church.

I simply responded to your hand/foot claim.
