How do Catholics (or Christians in general, for that matter) respond to the claim that Muhammad "split the Moon"?

I don’t think we should be criticising another religion but remembering how much we share in a secular society which is often antagonistic to our common beliefs and values.
Islam is a false religion that makes false claims and seeks to destroy Christianity, ultimately imposing its falsehood on the entire world . How can we not speak out against that?

**54:1-2

The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic.**
  • If the moon was split, many nations would have recorded this, but not one nation/country recorded this incident.
It’s far from clear reading the passage. Muhammed isn’t even mentioned, the Qur’an doesn’t call it a miracle, though the word ‘sign’ (ayah) is used. If it were a miracle it would contradict other passages that claim that Muhammed did not perform feats of nature like this (3:81-84). This passage is also earlier than others where unbelievers are calling for a sign. Also, a as jakasaki says, a sign like this would have been universally observed. From a quick scan of some books I have on Islam, a lot of Muslim scholars talk about this passage as referring to the end times, not a miracle during Muhammed’s day.

You’ve got to take the korana very lighty… there is a passage in there about Moses and he was laid his clothes on a bunch of rocks - I think Moses was trying to wash in the river/stream…

Anyway… the rocks run away with this clothes and Moses is chasing after the rocks to get his clothes back…

Now tell me… is that a faily tale or what… when was the last time you saw a rock run…??

😃
Let’s be fair though, the Bible has fantastic stories of its own. When was the last time you heard a donkey or serpent talk (both in the Bible)?

The events in Fatima were not observed elsewhere in the world…
true ; but we don’t base our faith on Fatima, and no one ever tried to say it was observed worldwide. But those in Islam do believe the Moon actually was split and the event was global as they claim it was seen by Princes in India. The also rave about pictures of the moon with signs of when it was obviously split but if you check the link I posted above you will see thats easily refuted.

Mohammed has no foundation to his claims of being a prophet; no substantial prophesies that any parlor gypsy couldn’t make; no miracles and no justifcation in older scriptures as he himself calls them to be unreliable as he says they have been corrupted.

😃

But we’re not supposed to take these thing literally.
