I have several protestants friends who keep saying that they have been “saved”. When I ask them what that means all I get from them is that "Have acknowledged Christ as their Lord and Savior.

As Catholics how do we relate to this? Just be being a Catholic we believe that Jesus died for our sins and did so so that we could be saved. I don’t understand???

The following links should assist you in better understanding the Catholic Church’s teaching on salvation - and refutation of the Protestant belief of salvation by faith alone (commonly referred to in Latin as “sola fide”). If you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered by these links, please [contact Catholic Answers (http://www.catholic.com/home/contact.asp) directly.
