I do think some acknowledged private revelation or vision of the Theotokos did influence the spirituality and liturgy of the Byzantine Church.
Such as the protection of Theotokos, enshrined in liturgical calendar. Not a dogma, but no one want to dispute it only because it is a private revelation especially since its solemnity is commemorated each year.
Also with the hymn Axion Estin as noted by Gary in the previous post. Perhaps its history just a pious legend. Yet the Church commemorate the vision in the calendar on June 11.
The popularity of the icon of Mary the Inexhaustible Cup, as the legend goes, came from private revelation trough a dream. And so on.
So while I agree that apparitions really don’t play a major role in our liturgical or spiritual life, it does have significant role.
