Ask her how comfortable she’ll be paying entirely herself whatever you were planning to contribute to her college education and other living expenses. I firmly believe that parents of college-age children should make it very clear that those children should consider parents who contribute in any way to their ability to attend college to be another “scholarship board,” and that if the prospective student wants to keep the “parental scholarship funds” then that student better be prepared to meet the requirements of “the board,” which should include not just academic and moral standards, but religious obligations.
