How do I defend my opposition of homosexuality?

Hello,

My American History professor constantly compares the Christian belief against homosexuality to the discrimination minorities suffered through in early history to the Civil Rights Movement. How do I differentiate between the opposition of homosexuality and the Civil Rights Movement?
