How do I eliminate the sin of pride?

C. S. Lewis writes that pride is the root of all sin. Many times I can’t separate the feeling of being happy with myself for doing good works and being overly proud of myself for giving to others.
 
I recommend focusing on being grateful to God for giving you the talent and opportunity to help others, and for giving to you any merit that your good works gain. Gratitude is what can drive out pride.
