How do I encourage someone who feels God is distant from them?

I’m trying to encourage someone who has a hard life and feels distant from God no matter how much she prays or how much faith she has. I think I would classify her as agnostic or maybe an athiest. What can I tell her? Please pray for her and for me. Thank you.
 
I pray for your intention, but I think the Spirituality section is the proper area where people ask for advice on those specific questions because the rules of the prayer intentions section is for prayer and the rules say not to give advice here according to the moderators.

Bless you for your concern for your friend and for asking prayer.
The most powerful way to “speak” to her isn’t necessarily to use words. It’s to pray for her and to be kind, friendly, and respectful. The pain and distance she feels is her personal experience so you can’t say much that would make sense to her. Care about her and help where she wishes you to; and pray for her as her relationship to God depends on God. Many of us go through the experience of feeling distant from God. Don’t worry about deciding if she is athiest or agnostic. She is still trying therefore she still has faith, and true faith doesn’t depend on feelings or experience but on the will to continue trying.Your gentle, cheerful, genuine kindness is what can give her an experience of God’s love and presence, but don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t appear to help much sometimes. You are a gift of God for her and God’s presence to her, and you may not kow perhaps how much it will ultimately help.
