My husband is Unitarian and I am Catholic. He says Catholics use confession as a crutch so that they can feel better about what they did. He says he is accountable directly to God in his faith. I don’t know how to explain to him the depth and meaning of confession. He also asks me what I confess and feels he has a right to know. What can I tell him?

paris,

These links should be helpful for explaining to your husband the obligation we have to comply with Christ’s established methods for forgiving our sins. If you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered by these links, please contact Catholic Answers directly.
