How do I explain riches in the Catholic Church?

I often hear friends and relatives mock the Catholic Church as being one of the richest organizations in the world. I don’t know how to respond; I don’t know if they are the richest or if they are if they are using their riches wisely to help others

How should I respond to such a negative remark about our mother church?
