I am in a discussion with a knowledgable Mormon.
In discussing the Apostasy, he quotes St. Paul
“And he gave some, Apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith” -Ephesians 4:11-13
and then makes the following point:
So, how long are there going to be Apostles, prophets, etc? “till we all come in the unity of the faith”. As long as there is not a “unity of the faith” (and there still isn’t) there need to be Apostles and prophets. But the Catholic Church has neither.
Can you offer me a good Catholic response as to how Christ’s Church, which no longer has Apostles, is nevertheless the one referenced in Ephesians?
