How do I explain to my parents about Eucharistic Adoration?

Hello friends,

I and my parents are fairly new Catholics who were baptized and confirmed into the Church (2015, 2017 respectively). As part of my Catholic group in Canada, I participated in Eucharistic Adoration events in my diocese, and I absolutely loved it. I loved my time with the Lord in Adoration, and I wanted to tell my parents about the beauty of Eucharistic Adoration.

Because my mom has went to several Eucharistic Adoration events with me in South Korea when I came back home for a while, she understands better; my father, who did not have much time to participate into these events, he does not understand fully about Eucharistic Adoration. When I told my father about Eucharistic Adoration, he told me that he has never been to one, and he does not know anything about it. I spent the whole supper talking to him about it, but he still remained confused.

My parents come from a Protestant tradition, which did not have the Eucharist as a Liturgy.

How do I explain to my parents about Eucharistic Adoration? I just don’t seem to explain it very well to them.

Just tell them you are going to go sit in the physical presence of God. He will not just be there in spirit, as he is when 2 or 3 people are gathered in his name, but in physical person, like he was a person sitting at your dinner table, only he is hidden in the appearance of bread.

if they, being from Protestant tradition, are knowledgeable about the Bible, you can refer them to the parts of the OT where the priests would go into the Holy of Holies and be in the presence of God. Tell them that Adoration is where God allows everyone to come into the Holy of Holies and be in his presence, physically. It’s no longer reserved to special priests on special days of the year who go through special rituals first. Everyone who is respectful can come and be with God in person, even non-Catholics.
 
How is he able to separate his body and spirit when they are all part of the trinity ?
 
Sorry misread you said he will not JUST be there in spirit haha! I once went to adoration in Rome before I was a catholic. Didn’t know what it was. It was a big step on the way back Xx
