How do I explain to my parents why we hate their church?

thanks Rico!šŸ™‚

I really don’t think it would be too bad to attend mass with your parents. I have been to a latin mass and I love it. I also love the New Order mass. I am Catholic, I’m not a Latin mass Catholic or a New Order Catholic.
I think there’s been some level of misunderstanding of my position in this thread. I’ve been to many Latin masses, both EF and OF. I have no problem with attending them. My problem is with the abuses, not the Latin Rite.

OP: I can picture exactly what kind of parish and priests you are talking about. šŸ˜‰ Reminds me of a local priest who literally creates a Eucharistic prayer out of thin air every time. There is no way that the priests at your parent’s parish are unaware of the liturgical abuses they are committing. :tsktsk:

Just because you’ve attended that church in the past has no bearing on whether or not you have to attend it in the future. I’d tell your mom that you did it to be nice, but you have had your limit now. Besides, watching all those abuses is too distracting during Mass and you need to remain focused on the prayers, etc. She’s obviously trying to guilt you into going, which is done merely to cover up the important issues (condoning the disrespectful actions of the priests).

She and your dad aren’t doing much ā€œvisitingā€ during Mass anyways for that 1.5 hours. If it’s important to you and ā€œno big dealā€ to her, then she ought to be the one going to the parish of your choice. I don’t care WHO is visiting WHO–to me it’s irrelevant. If my parents came to visit and wanted to go to a different mass, they can do whatever they want regardless of if we go with them or not. YOU GUYS ARE ADULTS, and don’t need to be told where to attend mass. And to me, attending a parish that openly goes against what the Church has mandated (to preserve the sacredness :highprayer: of the event) when you can easily attend a different parish just shows support for the renegade priests’ actions. Not going to their parish has NOTHING to do with your love for your parents or desire to be with them.

best of luck to you šŸ‘
