My two Catholic friends both wear bikinis. How do I get them to stop?

if they are male, then you really have your work cut out for you. I would stress the fact that being an occasion for sin for someone else makes you partly responsible for that person’s sin. We are witnesses of the Kingdom with all that we are; so I would ask, which kingdom do you think is being witnessed to by wearing a bikini?

You can’t. That’s a choice they will need to make on their own and badgering them won’t work; it will likely have an opposite effect.

Maybe showing them a picture of a classy retro suit like here at ShabbyApple might help so they can see a fashionable suit with some more coverage:

Why would you think they are male?:confused::confused:

A male in a bikini is a very scary thing, indeed!!!😃
It really is!!! 😃

To the OP: It’s not your job or your business to police your friends. 😉 Doing so will likely mean you have far fewer Catholic friends in the near future. Just be a good example yourself and let them make their own decisions like grown ups 😉

He was kidding! 😃

I have NEVER seen a male wear a bikini. Why would you think these are 2 males wearing bikinis?

YOU cannot make anyone else do anything. They must choose for themselves.
I don’t mean make them. I mean encourage them in a way that they will listen too.

Plus, it makes me uncorfortable to see them dessed like that (I’m a girl too) and I ended staring at them without trying.

wow, those are really cute

Of course this is quite unkind and I’m not actually recommending it. But the quickest way to get a woman to stop wearing a bikini is to tell her she looks fat in it. 🙂

Our Lady indicated to Bl. Jacinta…one of the little Children of Fatima around 1920:

Certain fashions will be introduced which will offend Our Divine Lord very much. Those who serve God ought not to follow these fashions.

Of course there was no “list” given as to what fashions were intended. And there have been very bad things introduced in the years since.

But it is something certainly to take into consideration in evaluating the subject of modesty.

A good source on modesty is the section in the Catechism.

Also the quickest way to incur great bodily injury to yourself!

I like Comrade’s idea. Jesus said once that even fostering a lustful thought is the same as adultery. If you wear clothing that causes lustful thoughts in others when more modest clothing is available, then you are contributing to serious sin.

This makes you guilty.

I saw one at a Wal-Mart up here in Pennsylvania. It was not pretty.
