JW’s do not believe in hell, and why as a good catholic or protestant tell them to get the F out of my yard??

Does anyone even care about the lost? Or does anyone care about how we reflect God in our actions? Is this how we are to let our light shine before men…and glorify our God who is in heaven? I hope most of these posts are in jest and not literal…
Do you think they care about you? These people don’t wont to here any thing you have to say they are like a radio they would put the mute button on as soon you start talking. Maybe they don’t believe inn hell but they think your going some where beside haven no matter how good of a person you are. And why should I give people respect that think the (Virgin Marry) is nothing but a common women you can respect them all you wont but imp not going to. Also I said F that can mean any thing if your mind wants to think it’s a foul word then that’s on you**.**

Recently we’ve had the jehovah’s witnesses stop by the house and leave their magazinges. Today, it drove my poor puppy crazy…she actually growled at them, which she never does to anyone.

I don’t want their information, and I would prefer they not stop by and drive my puppy crazy. Perhaps they can convert others, but I’m already on my path to conversion to the Catholic Church, and I like this path.

What is the best thing to do in these situations? Does a no soliciting sign work?
I invited them in about 15 years ago, and in return for the books they left me, I gave them a picture of Divine Mercy, 2 very nice young ladies from the States, but that was the last time I saw them.
To tell you the truth I was quite well versed on the Bible and they couldn’t answer my questions, though I was manerly, they looked a bit deflated and I felt sorry for them as they were young, and I thought to myself, you poor chldren, so brain-washed.
Anyway I said you sure came a long way to tell me about Jesus, so I gave them sometime, & invited them back, but alas no !

And you are speaking from experience? I don’t think so…and if you are maybe it’s because you are so inflamitory in your speech? I have lots of experience witnessing to these people and they are intelligent, sincere and ‘think’ they are doing a great work for God. We should love them not slam the door in their face.

And why should I give people respect that think the (Virgin Marry) is nothing but a common women you can respect them all you wont but imp not going to.

Then why don’t you try to tell them about the catholic faith instead of shutting the door on them?

Also I said F that can mean any thing if your mind wants to think it’s a foul word then that’s on you.
Okay, so if i say ‘get the F out of my yard’ what does that imply? Lets see, get the ‘Fun’ out of my yard? I don’t think so…Anyway, i just wish there was a little more humility here regarding people God loves…thanks

Politely tell them no thanks. However, if you want to get brave you can invite them in and engage them in a charitible discussion about why the Catholic faith is the truth. Jason Evert has a book about the JW’s that is first hand in terms of their strategies and inner workings.

First of you don’t know any thing about me I have been around these people a lot. Now about the (Virgin Marry) I don’t know if you read my post are not but they don’t listen to any thing you have to say about your religion they are taught not to. And how do I know this by a former J.W. And like I said imp not going to respect any one that doesn’t respect me and that bashes my faith you can do what ever you wont with them but don’t try to tell me how to handle these fakes. And about the F word like I said it is what you make of it don’t blame me if your mind is thinking some thing foul.

The Watchtower cranks out more literature than all Protestants and Catholics combined. They disperse this literature and go door to door with more numbers and determination than Christians. They spend countless hours in bible study and roleplaying, learning how to evangelize. All for a lie! If they are willing to do that for a lie, what are we willing to do for the truth?

Here is a basic approach that I have settled upon after many discussions with various JW’s.
  1. Start off by wishing them a great day and say you will listen to them if they will accept some information from you.
  2. Hand out a flier or phamplet on how to pray the rosary.
  3. Have the Navarre Bible commentary Gospels, Matthew Mark Luke and John and Acts with text and commentary available The Navarre commentary has notes that are orientented to the Magisterium Pope Councile Sacred Tradition and the Sacred Scripture, not theological speculation as is sometime the case in the New American Bible. Also have a bible handy RSV-CE or NAB.
  4. Have the Catechism of the Catholic Church avialable and perhaps the Modern Catholic Dictionary by Father John Hardon. The dictionary has many conise yet complete definitions and facts.
  5. They (JW’s) will most likely ask you about the birthday of the Church, and even if they don’t you should take the initiative and direct the conversation toward Matthew "You are Peter and apon this rock I will build my Church… Next point to pentecost as the birthday of the Church.
  6. Next topic, point them to John chapter 6 and discuss the Eucharist, Real Presence.
By then they will either give up or try one more time at a later day.

Also don’t fall into a trap of “winging it” if you are not sure. Tell them to come back and you can anwer any questions they have raised (of course go to Catholic Answes web and forum to get your question readily researched and answered.

Also pray for them and wish for them to come home to Rome and recieve all the graces availble in Jesus’ Church, the Catholic Church.

This is my basic approach and either the Holy Spirit utilized me as an instrument of the new evangelization or they were convinced that I wouldn’t be joining the JW’s.

If you are not able to take up the aplogetics then hand out the rosary pamphlets and wish them to come home to Rome.

God bless you.

JW’s are typically instructed not to take any materials from anyone else, so if you get them to take anything you are doing good! There is always a common ground that we can start from so ya, it is a good thing to have a plan and try your best to stick to it. Hopefully it will lead to fruitful discussion for weeks or even months at a time…thanks

Does it matter all these people do is try to get people that already know the (Lord Jesus Christ) to come and follow them what is so good about that. And about their bible study they spend more time on how to get and make new members then they do studying the Bible are praying. Catholics and Protestants focus there time on the real lost such as Muslims, Jews Hindus and pagan worshippers and they risk their life going inn to counties that would kill them if they knew what there where doing. We get people that have never heard of the (Lord Jesus Christ) to join to me that is more in portent. It is much harder to get a Hindu that doesn’t know smack about **(Jesus) **then it is to get people that already know him. And it doesn’t matter how much time they pray they are fakes. Muslims pray 5 times a day and fast for a owl month and we all know they are not following the true God. A lie is a lie no matter what you do and Muslims and Jehovah witness are fakes. Heh, I got a chance to shut my neighbor up the other day.

She started trying to slip in some of here whacko theology so I made it real simple for her.

ME: “Ok, let’s say you are right and I am wrong what happens to me when I die? I cease to exist. Big stinking deal. Now, what if I’m right and you are wrong? fire and brimstone baby, weeping ad gnashing of teeth. eternal separation form God the Father, God the Son , and God the Holy Sprit.”
Her: …silence…
ME: “I’ll take my chances.”

T’was quite fun, hope she sics a wad of them on me.

Most JWs I get at the door are pretty docile. They have their quota they have to meet for the day so they don’t spend much time at the door. They say their little speel and then they’re off. Some times I’m disappointed they didn’t stay longer.

They have to purchase the literature they hand out. They don’t realize that’s the purpose of the “religion.” Make money for the corporation. The more converts they get, the more literature is purchased and the richer the corporate honchos get. I feel sorry for them, because they are very nice people who really believe (how, I don’t know!) in what they’re doing. It’s sad.

I just ask them, “Why would I want to spend eternity on earth when I have the promise of eternity in a better place of heaven?”

I got myself into that predicament once. The solution is halarious, I told them I would take the literature if they would take mine, and I had some Catholic books and they refused and literally ran away.God Bless

I had two JW’s show up today at my door. They asked me if I thought the world was in a bad way. I of course agreed it was and, having never really engaged in discussion with a JW, asked them in. I really was not aware of how strange their theology is until we started talking. They kept trying to convince me that the world would not end but would go on, populated with only righteous people. They used one verse from Psalm 37 and one verse from Revelation as their “proof.” They started to get nervous when I kept reading additional verses (from my Ignatius bible) around their chosen verses to put these in context. Then I pulled out my Catechism and talked about Christ at the end times separating the sheep from the goats and the concept of hell. I had no idea before this that they didn’t believe in hell. After a little discussion along the lines of “why would God consign his creatures to eternal damnation” I asked them where do they believe that wicked people go after death. Their response was that “dead is dead.” In reply I asked if they believe in annihilation. I don’t think they knew the meaning of that word. When I re-phrased it and asked what happens to the immortal soul of a wicked person, they both looked absolutely shocked and said people don’t have immortal souls. Well then I was shocked and said that their theology was too far removed from Christ’s revelaed truth to even consider. They left immediately, although politely. All this took about a half hour. I feel sorry for them.

StJeanneDArc. It was nice to hear that you invited them in and had a good conversation. If they return i’m sure you will have more opportunities to share the truth. You seem very discerning for someone never exposed to their theology…thats a good thing:)…keep up the good work…nice post!

One day, upon returning home from work, I found my wife (a non-practicing Methodist) in a heated debate with a JW. The poor fellow was flushed and stuttering. Apparently my wife, a rather staunch animal lover, had somehow cornered him on the subject of whether animals went to Heaven. I politely excused myself as I rushed between them into the home. Their conversation ended without the man even offering her their literature. Needless to say, he never came back!

Thank you. Just trying to rely on God’s will.

I’ve heard of signs that people can put on their doors that say “This is a Catholic home. The literature of other faiths is neither needed nor desired.” Has anyone seen anything like this and if so, do you know where one can acquire one?

When Jehovah Witnesses give me a Watchtower magazine, I give them a copy of Pillar of Fire, Pllar of Truth and say I’ll take your magazine if you’ll take mine.
This method works wonderfully for us too. They aren’t allowed to take your stuff. We always do the “we’ll take yours if you take ours.”

The other thing we’ve done is to invite them to make an appointment with us when we can sit down with them and dispell any misconceptions about our Faith. I’m sure our house has a big red X on it.

We’ve had the mormons make an appointment. They were so frustrated they called and asked if they could come back again. They brought their stake leader with them and he left our house in a rage which was really good for the young missionaries to see. They never came back again either.

It’s been said before, unfortunately. Why not answer it clothed and invite them in? Share the truth and dialogue with them? Would Jesus answer the door naked? Or would Jesus turn them away? Then why are we so eager to do so? Just a thought…
