But you don’t trust in Jehovah. You trust in GOD or LORD. How can you really know your creator if you won’t even speak to him using his own name?

I also hate that people bring up Russell all the time. The man is gone. Does that mean that Jehovah’s people are still being led by him? Um, unless we believe in ghosts and speaking from the grave (which we don’t) then no.

The Bible says that in the end of the time the true religion will be persecuted. I just take all of the questioning in stride.

You’re not going to change my mind and I"m not going to change yours. I’m just here to make sure that someone who is legitimately curious won’t be misled by others who do not know what it is really all about to be a JW.
Oh but I do trust Jehovah. I love Him with all of my mind, heart and soul. I also love His dear Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for my sins and I am so thankful that because of Him, I have the hope of eternal life in heaven with Him, his Mother Mary and all the Angels & Saints.

And let me share something about the name Jehovah… I don’t NEED to use that name to get His attention. Just like when My dear children call out “Mom” - I answer. I don’t say… “Oh… you didn’t use my name… I don’t know you…” No, my title “Mom” is good enough… because they are MY children. It’s the same with my loving Creator. He knows me… he knows I’m His child. He’s not confused when I call him God - or LORD - or King of Kings - or Wonderful Counselor - or the Prince of Peace.

And I do know the Society - inside and out. I’ve looked at ALL the evidence - not just what they’ve “approved” for my eyes to see. I think I am in a much better position to speak about the Watchtower than a person who hasn’t had that opportunity.

I don’t expect to be able to change your mind. That’s the work of the Holy Spirit… What I can do is continue to pray that your eyes will be opened.

Bless you,
CM

No, you don’t need to. He ASKS you to.

I’ll do the same for you.
Thanks, but I don’t need all the prayers. I’m all set.

Why was it a mistake?
Because I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t know my Bible nor my Catechism as well as I should have to refute their distortions.
I’m really surprised to meet them here:eek: I thought this was a Catholic Site?

**I’m really surprised to meet them here:eek: I thought this was a Catholic Site? **
Yes, but JWs are welcome here, as I understand it.

yea, better watch out. I might bite.

I think JWs should totally be welcome in a forum under their name. If you do not welcome them in to defend themselves then that means this forum is only for JW bashing. If I had a Catholic forum and said “no catholics allowed” that wouldn’t really be very nice now would it?

I think I speak for many people when I say, Jaded, that I am so happy that you are here. I wish more Jehovah’s Witnesses would come to this site.

God Bless,

The Bible says that in the end of the time the true religion will be persecuted. I just take all of the questioning in stride.
Charles T. Russell is totally relevant to any discussion reagarding the validity of the Watchtower Society since he was the founder of the Organization. He claimed that there wasn’t a single religion at that time that that was serving the true God. Not one. He then proclaimed that he himself was the “faithful and discreet slave whom God had put in charge.” He claimed that He was God’s Spokesman. And he had ALOT to say. Most of which is shocking which the average witness today knows very little about.

He got a group of people together - and the group grew - and grew & grew. All were following him. The organization today is a direct result of his beliefs and work. Without him there wouldn’t have been the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

So investigating what he believed - what his qualifications were - whether or not what he prophecized came true… those are all very relevent to today. Because wouldn’t you agree that if he wasn’t who he said he was - if Jehovah God didn’t “pick” him out of all the people on Earth at that time (as he claims) then maybe your faith isn’t built on “truth” at all???

But enough about the founder of your religion… let me tell you about the founder of mine… The founder of my religion is Jesus Christ. He too claimed to be sent by God. He too established a Chruch and it grew - and grew & grew. Without Him there wouldn’t have been the Catholic Church. That’s how I know that my faith is built on “truth.” Because my church was established by Jesus Christ Himself.

God Bless,
CM

Really. Wheere does it say “the catholic church is right” in the bible? Jews were God’s chosen people, not “Catholics”.

Very true… the Jews were God’s chosen people. But as you know, Jesus Christ came to open the door of Salvation to all those who would believe in Him. He established a Church.

In Mat 16:18 Jesus said, “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”

Peter was the very first Pope of the Catholic Church. All Christians were Catholic for the next 1,500 years - the Bible - that was put together by the Catholic Church through the power of the Holy Spirit. All Christian Churches today can trace their lienage to the same source - the Catholic Church.

CM

Regarding the original question, I set a statue of the Blessed Mother outside by the front door. She’s made of concrete, about 2 feet high (I got her at Mission Soledad this summer). I’m hoping that she keeps them at bay (the “no soliciting” sign sure didn’t).

It’s not like I don’t still have subscriptions to the threads. Nice.I’ve said what you have to do, but no one listens. They’d rather complain.

You can ask to be put on their ‘do not call’ list. If they don’t heed your request, serve them with a trespass notice. They won’t want to risk being arrested as that would make them look bad and they couldn’t have that.

This works every time:

JW appears on doorstep. I answer door and they ask to talk about JW. I swing the door wide open and smile broadly, gesturing for them to come in.

"Hello! How nice to see you! You know, I really admire how you JWs step forward for your faith. How’s it going today – would you like something cold/hot to drink? Step into the living room and have seat. It’s always a pleasure to meet people who are committed to the Lord. You’ve come to the right place – this is a house that witnesses to the Lord Jesus. . . . "

That’s about how long the visit takes. There is no known interval shorter than the one between the words, “this is a house that witnesses to the Lord Jesus” and the door slamming behind the terrified and fleeing JWs.
Why does this have the effect that it does? I don’t quite understand.

Recently we’ve had the jehovah’s witnesses stop by the house and leave their magazinges. Today, it drove my poor puppy crazy…she actually growled at them, which she never does to anyone.

I don’t want their information, and I would prefer they not stop by and drive my puppy crazy. Perhaps they can convert others, but I’m already on my path to conversion to the Catholic Church, and I like this path.

What is the best thing to do in these situations? Does a no soliciting sign work?
A Catholic friend of ours used to belong to this cult, and he mentioned that they view crosses and images as gates through which Satan enters their lives. So, perhaps having a cross readily in view from the front door might be effective, or insisting they take a rosary?

JW’s do not believe in hell, and why as a good catholic or protestant tell them to get the F out of my yard??

Does anyone even care about the lost? Or does anyone care about how we reflect God in our actions? Is this how we are to let our light shine before men…and glorify our God who is in heaven? I hope most of these posts are in jest and not literal…
I have the same thoughts as I read some of these posts.
Hostility, hatefulness and humiliation as a technique is nothing to be proud of or to emulate. When a Catholic is well informed about the Catholic faith s/he is well armed against attempts to interfere with our faithfulness. In which case there is no need to resort to ugly brutishness in dealing with door to door evangelizers. It smacks more of insecurity and fear than it does of conviction to the Catholic faith.

Northwind:
The Watchtower cranks out more literature than all Protestants and Catholics combined. They disperse this literature and go door to door with more numbers and determination than Christians. They spend countless hours in bible study and roleplaying, learning how to evangelize. All for a lie! If they are willing to do that for a lie, what are we willing to do for the truth?
Hear! Hear! Ovation!

It’s been said before, unfortunately. Why not answer it clothed and invite them in? Share the truth and dialogue with them? Would Jesus answer the door naked? Or would Jesus turn them away? Then why are we so eager to do so? Just a thought…
You are a voice of reason in the wilderness. I support your position.

Lk 18:9-14

Jesus addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else. “Two people went up to the temple area to pray;one was a Pharisee (Catholic) and the other was a tax collector (JW). The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, 'O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity–greedy, dishonest, adulterous–or even like this **tax collector **(JW). I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income. 'But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’ I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

We don’t have to allow the JW into the house, but we were given the command to love one another as Christ loves us.

In all things charity.

I really try to focus on the passage saying that whatever we do the least of our brother (JW) we do unto Christ.

It is hard to remember that someone coming to your door was sent by God, Himself. I screw up on this all the time, but I try not to call evil good. May God have mercy on me when I do.

Being rude is being evil. Boosting about evil shows us how much we are like the Pharisee. I must stop being like the Pharisee if I want eternal happiness.

May God grant us a charitable heart.

O God, be merciful to me a sinner.

Thanks for speaking up.

I immediately tell them how much I love my faith. I take their magazine if they offer me one. I also mention to them any JW’s that I know personally and how much I appreciate those persons in my life. This method works well with Mormons too.
