5 months ago, I broke up with my then-boyfriend of 2 years. We had a great relationship and I really appreciate the time that we spent together. I definitely learned a lot about myself and others. Unfortunately, I eventually just couldn’t see us having a good marriage.
I am looking for advice on how to transition from break-up avoidance to once-in-a-while interactions. We haven’t talked at all throughout this time except for a couple texts, and I haven’t seen him much either. However, when I go home at Christmas, we’ll most probably see each other at Mass, sing together in a choir, etc. I do not feel right about complete avoidance forever. How do I talk and act with someone that I have so many memories with?
