I feel like I’m always making the wrong decisions, how do I know that I’m following the right path or how do I know if I’m on the right path that God wants?

Hi. You wouldn’t know in everything. So do not try, if you can’t find all the answers. It is too complicated.

Try to make it simple - be a practicing Catholic. I am saying that is simple because everything is stated clearly.

Outside of that, then you have to discern whether what you are going to do will be in conflict with the Church’s teaching.

If not, then not to worry. Sure it may not be always the most ideal decision, but if you put the Church’s teaching first, meaning God first, you will not be doing too bad.

God bless.

It’s simple; just ask Him. In my experience, He responds with a vision [in a dream], through showing me something such as a relevant Scripture or occasionally He’ll speak. When you hear a voice that’s telling you something and is consistent with Scripture, it’s very likely that God is speaking to you. I don’t exactly know the mechanics of how it works, but it does. I’ve heard God several times.

We know by the conclusion of an order of process. “All knowledge results from some kind of abstraction (to separate) from matter.” (STh IIISup., q. 92, a. 2, rep. 4) The Plan of God is universal. As Fr. Mitch Pacwa has said a number of times (paraphrasing) God is the one in management, I am just the associate. Jesus said, “Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.” (Mt 11:29) If we learn anything, that ought to be it. Consider reading the Angelic Doctor’s sublime treatment of the Gospel of Matthew.

I find that if I trust in God and pray daily things seem to work out.

Father Mike Schmitz offers helpful insights here:

God’s Choicest Blessings to you and all your dear ones, now and for all eternity.

Blue Rose - what a lovely name 😊
Do NOT - grieve your Holy Spirit - that’s within you - given by God himself.

You know the commandments -
Jesus narrowed them down to TWO THINGS -
Love God ( with all your might ! )
Love your neighbor. ( with the love of your God )

Specific passages or mysteries may stand out to you and God may speak to you through them.

Praying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary and coming to the realization that good cam come out of suffering and the best thing to do in the midst of suffering is to simply offer it to God and do His will.

how do I know that I’m following the right path or how do I know if I’m on the right path that God wants?
Trust that God is powerful enough and Sovereign over creation, and that where you are now is exactly where God wants you, and that he will shepherd you in the way in which to walk in his flock.

keep praying and helping others keeps you calm from inside of you. This is my life time experience.

Is what you are doing/choosing going to get you closer to God, is it bringing you closer to heaven?

Is it good, just, pure, true, merciful? Then it is what God wants.

@Blue_Rose

There is a general will of God for everyone that is to be holy as the Heavenly Father is Holy ,second you pray for the Grace, God may reveal his plans for you in your state of life ,or if you have any surrender in the hands of Jesus as Mother Mary did in LK 1:38,thirdly ask your Spiritual Father for spiritual advice.Pray for wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to discern them God Bless

I just listened to an excellent talk on discerning God’s will, by Fr. Larry Richards (Lighthouse). He talks about your question extensively. It’s about an hour long, but definitely worth a listen.

Say the Morning Offering first thing every day, then trust that God will accept your offering and guide you in His will throughout the day. In big decisions, pray hard then make the best choice you can, trusting that it is God’s will (even if it doesn’t work out as you had hoped). God is a master at “writing straight with curved lines.”

Not an audible voice. It’s almost like telepathy. He inserts certain thoughts into my mind and I take that to be His voice. It’s hard to explain.
