How do I come to grow in my love for the Eucharist, I don’t think I love it enough or understand it enough to make me love it the way I want to, how do I come to really LOVE it? Any good books on this? I need advice.

Can any of us love the Eucharist enough? On the other hand, we can, of course, love it more and more and understand it better. I cannot recommend a particular book, but I would suggest spending time before the Blessed Sacrament in prayer. :gopray: Regular, scheduled time, if you can, and ask for the grace of greater love. God loves to say “yes” to that kind of prayer. I think you will find that resources and answers will find their way to you. (I’ll watch this thread to see what others recommend. I could use some help here myself! 👍 )

Yes, I agree that it is important to ask Our Lord to help you love Him more – we can do little without Him!

One of the greatest books I have ever read for Eucharistic Adoration is called “Come to Me in the Blessed Sacrament” by Missionaries of the Blessed Sacrament.

It is filled with wonderful meditations, scriptures, prayers, and will fill your soul with the unending love Our Redeemer so you are able to love Him more! It is a book that Mother Teresa endorsed and carried with her often (there is a letter from her in the introduction).

Dear friend,
Be assured that your desire to love the Eucharist with a deeper more tangible love shows the great respect and great love you have already achieved in your heart. The Lord is most pleased with your intention.
A beautiful verse from scripture come to mind from 2 Cor3:12-18. It talks about the veil of Moses. I would ask you to read it and see what it says to you about the human condition. It does offer practical advice although it is a little obscure! If you want to discuss it further please contact me at ferg@online.ie

Another beautiful little gem come from the new Instruction REDEMPTIONIS SACRAMENTUM. It states:
***“Let all Christ’s faithful participate in the Most Holy Eucharist as fully, consciously and actively as they can, honouring it lovingly by their devotion and the manner of their life.”

So therefore my friend in Christ
Prepare and Participate Fully
Prepare and Participate Consciously
Prepare and Participate Actively
Prepare and participate with due Honour
Prepare and participate Lovingly
Prepare and Participate with Heartfelt Devotion
Prepare and Participate so that it becomes Life Changing

How do we do all that? Well that is your lifes journey. Striving to become better and better. It will take time. It will take forever. It will be gradual. Just look at Our Holy Father 84 years of age and still learning about the wonder and mystery of such a sublime gift. Still learning how to fall deeper in love with the presence of Christ.

I feel that to have a greater love for the Eucharist is a grace you can/should pray for - and why would Our Lord ever deny it!

I thought I had a love for the Eucharist - I’ve been a very grateful convert for 37 years, and the two greatest gifts I received by becoming a Catholic were the Eucharist and Confession. But to my surprise, it was after viewing Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ that I received a really overwhelming love and hunger for the Eucharist that I’ve never had before. I found that film profoundly spiritual - mystical almost - and I couldn’t begin to list the graces and deeper understandings I got from that film.
I THOUGHT I knew everything about the Passion, the institution of the Eucharist - HA! I had barely scratched the surface, and I know that now.

So - the point I’m making is - you never know when that grace will come to you, or how!!! God’s ways are unfathomable. But if you desire a deeper love of the Eucharist, you will surely receive it. That’s my prayer for you!😃

A Te numquam separari permittas - never let me be separated from You

I cannot help but be reminded of the words to the song “Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all”

Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how revere this wond’rous gift,
So far surpassing hope or thought.
Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore.
O make us love Thee more and more!
O make us love Thee more and more!

Had I but Mary’s sinless heart,
To love Thee with, my dearest King;
O with what bursts of fervent praise,
Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing!
Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore.
O make us love Thee more and more!
O make us love Thee more and more!

I agree that after seeing The Passion of the Christ (6 times, actually) my love for the Eucharist has grown so much! I believed in the Real Presence, spent hours at Adoration, knew in my heart and soul what a gift it was…but perhaps, I took it for granted sometimes…never, ever again. It’s a powerful, visual connection to the spiritual Truth we know.

Nothing to add, except that you might want to get a good book of prayers for Adoration/before the Blessed Sacrament, to enhance your appreciation of and deepen your love…how often does your parish offer Adoration? I would recommend going as often as you can!

Praying for your journey…
