How do I make a good Confession?

I can appreciate that by examining my conscience truthfully, I can make a really good confession, but when I enter the confessional I am overwhelmed by awe, and everything goes out of my head, this also happens when I have the opportunity of a face to face confession with my spirtual director, how can I overcome this?
