How do I obtain my sacramental record?

I am getting married in November and am having trouble obtaining a copy of my baptism certificate since I was baptized in Mexico City. I am trying to locate the church but have had no luck. I have a copy of my confirmation certificate, but the church requires a baptistm certificate, so now I am stuck. We have no family in Mexico so there is no one we can contact to go to the church (if it still exists). What can I do?

What you need is not a baptismal certificate but your sacramental record. If you have a certificate of confirmation – which is really a memento of confirmation, as is a baptismal certificate – then the parish at which you were confirmed must have had access to your sacramental record because the parish would have had to either note in your sacramental record the fact of your confirmation or notify the parish of your baptism that you had been confirmed. Contact the parish at which you were confirmed and ask for assistance in obtaining your sacramental record. If you continue to have difficulty, I recommend asking your local diocese to help you contact the Archdiocese of Mexico City for assistance in tracking down your sacramental record.
