How do I pick a group?

I have been struggling for awhile now on how to pick a study group in my local parish and would like to pick one by Lent. I have been attending there for over 2 years now (every Sunday and a few weekdays) and I really have no idea what study groups are even available. We attend a diocese and from what I have read in the bulletin, we have over 60 different ministries!! I do belong to Alter & Rosary Society, although just started that a few months back.
I only know a few people at our parish, they are all older than us, 60+ and we are in our 30’s.
I don’t want to get into a group that is over my head. I am a cradle Catholic, but haven’t been to any study groups since confirmation
I have ruled out CRHP because they do too many testimonial things during Mass. I am really not one that likes to stand up and talk about myself or experiences in front of the whole parish. I do lead one of our Sunday morning Rosary, although I can do that from the safety of my pew. I know if I go and ask my priest he will suggest CRHP and I would feel too uncomfortable telling him I don’t want to attend that one, at least at this time. They also require a weekend retreat which I am not comfortable with.
I have always been a shy person that struggles with joining in on existing groups. Suggestions PLEASE!!! Other than just telling me to get over my shyness!!! I also know it may be hard to make suggestions without knowing my parish, I am just hoping someone can give me some questions to ask and stuff.

i went to a study group at our parish, iwas not satisfied with the topics. so, i noticed some folks around my age at daily mass, and in chit-chatting, i found some who, like me, wanted to learn more about our faith. we decided to start our own study group. it has worked out nicely.
you may want to try this approach.

i went to a study group at our parish, iwas not satisfied with the topics. so, i noticed some folks around my age at daily mass, and in chit-chatting, i found some who, like me, wanted to learn more about our faith. we decided to start our own study group. it has worked out nicely.
you may want to try this approach.

not a bad idea, although we go to the 7:30am Mass, not that many 30’somethings, the few that are busy with kids. We go out to breakfast with some of our friends that are older, I would love to get a breakfast group with people more our age, again difficult to do when most of them are busy with their kids.

i think you,ll find that folks in there 40,s and 50,s will relate well, have wisdom , experience, and love to share their faith ideas with you. also, their children are usually old enough to care for themselves. pray about it. good luck.

Maybe start something that is twice a month, or once a month, makes it much easier for those to commit.

What are you interest in? Bible Study? There is Roslind Moss, and her study on the Gospel of St. Luke. Everyone can watch it on EWTN as well as study and discuss at your meetings. I’ve thought about Johnette Bechovich (I know that I butchered her name), Women of Grace. I thought that might be good for all women, married, children, no children, etc.

But you know what…maybe your being called to not necessarily focus on a study, but just a group. Something for people (our age) to just come together with other like minded folks, and just fellowship. Maybe just start the group and let the group decide what kind of studying to do…have fun!!! Wish that I could join!
