I’ve gone through First grade through senior year of high school as a Catholic and have always been provided answers to my questions and creditable sources to back the answers up as well.
I try my best to find answers and sources, Now that I am in public college. I have recently opened a YouTube account and find myself posting on videos that always seem to draw others who hold opposite ideas and beliefs.
I often am careful as to what I post on, knowing there could be repercussions. I recently have posted on a video of their perhaps being a link between a Japanese region and the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. There I have encountered a Jewish man claiming that Christianity is based on pagan religions.
I have looked through Catholic answers and have only found this link below…
catholic.com/library/Is_Catholicism_Pagan.asp
Now I did find this link very helpful, but I am still left with questions. I was wondering if someone can help me. These are my questions as follows…
1.) Is it safe for me to state that the early Christians, who were being persecuted by the romans, secretly celebrated Catholic/Christian events on the same days as pagan romans to make it seem as if they too were celebrating the holiday, but all the while celebrating Catholic/Christian practices?
2.) If I can claim this to be true, where can I find a citation?
3.) How can I and all the Catholic Church continually cite sources from the early days of Christianity? Where do we keep such citation documents and what proof of existence can I show of these documents?
You see I am passionate of my faith, but I have yet to fully study for a degree in Catholic theology. I struggle with many issues that hold me back from doing long extensive research right now. I feel as if I am a mere lamb amongst wolves, who cannot fully give the truth of my faith on a drop of a pin.
Any and all help is appreciated.
