Perhaps you should try re-reading the post and using empathy instead of jumping to judging others.

Just a thought.

How do I respond when people say that their will always be religion as long as people feel their is something to gain from it?

i.e how do I refute the claim that Christianity is ultimatley selfish.

peace,

Well, is it true, or not ?

Hiyas Pete,

When I hear things such as these questions, "when people say that their will always be religion as long as people feel their is something to gain from it?

i.e how do I refute the claim that Christianity is ultimately selfish." ],

I respond with a ~smile~ . You know the one. The one that tells people you have a secret that they don’t have. They will beg you to hear AND it opens their door for you to help them start their spiritual walk.

When they see that you have no need to argue OR defend against superficial humorous statements, their mouths shut and minds open.

As you know, there are some who would argue anything. It is their way of seeking attention from you. They will argue that the sky isn’t blue, all day with you and turn right around and say look at that sunrise/sunset/cloud formation and it’s contrast with the hues of blues.🙂

peace,
Personally, I would smile and agree there is something to be gained. What we gain is unselfishness.
