How do i stop receiving all these appeals?

Once upon a time i had a job and donated. Now… I can’t stop receiving appeals! I have a stack in front of me right now!

We struggle ourselves to get by, not to the degree of those who I see on the appeals. I WISH i could do something for them, and give money…but I can’t. The guilt gets you too.
 
First of all, I sympathize with you completely. I thought some people on Catholic Answers Forums were half-joking about the amount of mail they get that’s a solicitation for donations. They are certainly not! I love getting the mail personally, but it is amusing how much there can be. 🙂

Secondly, you could do at least this: you could say a little prayer for each apostolate that writes to you! Another good thing might be to go to a Holy Hour or Eucharistic Exposition, and simply recommend some of the apostolates or charities to Our Lord Jesus.
 
You need to contact the charities you do give to and make sure you opt-out of selling and sharing their list with others.

You can call or write the charities you are receiving solicitations from and ask to be taken off their list.

You can opt out of future unsolicited mailings by going here:

You need to make sure you let DMA know you want to opt out of both commercial AND charity organizations.

You may still get mail as not all organizations use DMA’s services.

Maria, do not feel guilty because you cannot give to all of them. The Lord knows that.

I know a priest who explained that these appeals get a percentage back that helps take care of their needs. They don’t expect all their requests to be responded to.

Ask the Holy Spirit where and how much you could be donating to. Maybe that will be to only two or three a year.
 
You are under no obligation to donate to all the organizations that send you literature, even if they send you items like rosaries, return address labels, etc. Some of these organizations will sell or give your name to other organizations. You can either request that they take you off their mailing list or ignore and shred these letters.

I get so much stuff! I am starting to think the mailers and postage of all the junk costs more than my donation!!
 
Some of the requests for money come from Animal Shelters, too. I try to give when I can, and I just feel terrible when I see the pictures of homeless animals. Sometimes the shelters give things, like a pen and paper set, garden gloves, tomato seeds, and other things. I wish they wouldn’t.

I also adopted animals as pets, so I am very serious about this.
 
when they send me stuff, i write a short note and send the stuff back.
 
I came here to ask what to do with an appeal from what would be my home parish. I thought the letter was something else, but it is about a rather large shortfall and the fiscal year is up at the end of July. My first thought was just a stunned feeling. I attended there and attempted to start RCIA, and could not get an appointment with the priest. I am wondering what God wants me to learn from this? why was this letter sent to me? I do not receive any other mail from this parish, should I just pray for the need? Should I send the letter back informing the parish I am not Roman Catholic and why? I guess this is meant for me to forgive that priest and pray for that parish. This is very hard for me right now, I almost lost my faith in the church because of that priest. Any advice?
 
did you notify them that you were leaving? apparently, you are still on the mailing list. these are mass mailings to all members of the parish. it’s our duty to keep them in the black. it is good if their financials are transparent. we get a monthly budget update, along with efforts being made to keep costs down, and an annual report from the treasurer after all masses.

your issue with the priest should not have anything to do with leaving the church, did you try another parish? i pray that you will reconsider your position, we are lost without the church, not the other way around.

I notified all the priests and deacons and the parishes were I once attended. I did not notify the diocese proper, though. I still receive the diocese newsletter from where they must have attained my physical address. I usually give out my mailing address.

I have reread the petition, and I will be praying for the parish. The priest in question is leaving in July and I pray that another quickly replaces him. It is a very sad state to have no priest representing so large a parish.
