I have a lot of mortal sin on my back and I’m really unhappy about it but I’m addicted to a vice and trying to stop

every time I commit a mortal sin and something bad happens after

I take as that I was just punished for that mortal sin
So now everytime after I commit a mortal sin I’m afraid to do anything from playing a game to going to get a together
Because I believe it is doomed because I will likely suffer the consequences for my recent sin

It’s like when you can’t drive when drunk or after surgery

I don’t want to be thinking of God as not my friend and just some Judge here to punish me

But my brain brushes of the thought that things can just happen or that I’ve opened myself up to the Devil’s evil

Any idea on how to overcome this mindset
It’s easy to say I don’t want to think that way but I just revert back to it

Go to confession and also speak to your pastor for spiritual guidance.

Stay close to the Church and the Sacraments.

Christ died to deliver us from the prison of sin. Do you think he wouldn’t help you escape it now?
He wants to help you get free of your addiction. I encourage you to go to confession and talk to the priest.
Even if you have to go back every week, just keep going. You are not the first one to go through this; you can overcome it with God’s grace.
God bless.
