How do I store a relic?

Hello all,

I just received a second class relic and I have no idea how to keep it safe. It is a small article of clothing and I was wondering if I could get it blessed and then keep it in a locket that I would wear. Please tell me if this is inappropriate.

You don’t need to get it blessed because it is already blessed just by being a relic. I don’t see why you can’t put it into a small locket but make sure whatever you do you still venerate it as a relic.
 
Okay, thanks. I just have one more question: what is the proper way to venerate relics? I’m sorry if this seems like a stupid question. It’s just that I haven’t been Catholic for very long and I want to make sure that I do things properly.

Kissing it and touching it would be appropriate. Just curious, how did you receive the relic? God bless!
